I'm not a domainer, or whatever the term is - just have one moderately good domain name that I've had for about 20 years. Estibot estimates it at $2300. I'd like to auction/sell it for the best reasonable price -- not really seeing it as an investment but would like to recoup what I've put into it and don't want to let it go foolishly if there's some small earnings to be made. Any advice? There's no website attached.

Welcome to namePros @Bija

Depends on the name, can you mention it here ?

yes? (is it wise to do so? am not savvy at these kinds of things so am not sure how it works)

Yes you can mention it here, it might be best to separate the domain from extension to avoid easy direct search, example as follows:

The best way to sell / auction the domain depends on the name, there are many factors to consider. Sometimes the right approach can double the value and the wrong approach can result to receiving a tiny fraction of the value. Estibot valuations are not reliable at all. Therefore we have to know the name itself. If you are worried about making your question searchable (does not really affect the selling chances IMO), then use some way to mask the name, e.g. E X A M P L E (.) COM

Okay, I see what you're saying -- thank you -- it's ... writing not-this for not-this the not-this web not-this dot not-this com (just remove the not-thises)

It's an ok 4 word 'call to action' .com

I suggest you push it to auction at Flippa - promote it (your choice but extra fees)

The listing should show it as 17 years old which is attractive to some buyers, you have choice of setting the reserve and starting price there so you can reach your target sales price and hopefully more.

Good luck !

The length and the fact that it is a four-word uncommon phrase really doesn't give it that much value. Don't pay attention to estibot's values. They are weighing this mainly based on it's good almost $10 CPC. But you never know. Someone might see 1-2 grand value in it. If I owned it, I would most likely drop it.
