Who likes a big present? I also know that good things come in small packages. But what about a long domain name? Have you sold any 3 word domains to endusers/clients/investors?

Over time, I've noticed lot's and lot's of 3 word .com domains's being offered for sale, here on NamePros. With various sorts from diluted to extended keyword.

I'm personally not the biggest fan of 3 word .com and have only have owned 3 in my 5 years domaining, 2 are sold and 1 is still in my portfolio. But that could be my downfall!?

I like shorter domains for recall and branding.

Without question NamePros is a Forum first, and is not in general the the first reach marketplace for buyers of domain names, or is it? That being said, if a market has a value of a liquid name present, then NamePros, will in general bequest the sale.
Alas, there have also been some noted sales on NamePros too.

Albeit, I gather if you sieve through the junk there can be some worthy names worth flipping. But you have to be on it 24/7 with the alerts set up.

However, those liquid names on NamePros will not be 3 word .com, unless you can tell me different?

That being said, for those with a portfolio of 3 word .com that are listing here on NamePros to sell via the chat/auction/forum, it might be aware to check some the most recent 2015/2016 - 3 word public sales for some guidance.

And the list goes on...
{I understand that the public domain sales is not only the knowledge required to reach the holy grail of research in domain detection, but it's one of the starting points.}

And I've left the names in undercase for the naked truth.

So, let just disect these sales a bit;

I am initially surprised by the low level EMD of most names above that have made a fair price. And 6/19 domains are developed.

I know this is post sale and development has begun, but many of the websites listed make sense;

• for instance; LiveFootballScores.com (Sorry USA this is football hohoho) But it's diluted (yet sold for 7 grand) from a potential of FootballScores.com or FootballScores.co.uk which is a major site.

• mentalwellnesstoday.com is also a good name, but these health related names can usually work better under .org as this is now seen as business as well as non-profit.

gettingintocollege.com makes sense, and is always a tense time for under grads.

One thing you would note of the above three names is that their EMD searches per month via Google varies a great deal.

And I don't understand some of the sales, they seem too long a convoluted, but hey! They sold.

So what does that tell us?

We know the websites resolving were bought by end user/clients, but the parked pages were set up in DNS and the unresolved have no DNS to speak of, so could these really be investor buys?

Without doing more research it would be hard to say, plus knowing how long the names were held for etc..but I don't have the time ;)

This little post has given me some food for thought into 3 word .com but I still don't think I could build a portfolio of such.

Tell us your 3 word domain sales, I know some of you have had some nice ones, but it doesn't need to be your best sale, be good to hear from you.

Thanks.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Last night we walked around City Place in downtown West Palm Beach. I noticed a sign for apartment rentals in the area. Rents for a one bedroom are around $1500 to $1600. So the complex probably generates seven figures annually in revenue. The domain they used was likely a reg fee name but just to illustrate how developers try to avoid paying for aftermarket names despite the underlying economic value of the business- ApartmentsWestPalmBeachFL.com.. That is not the natural word order and a domainer with such a domain would probably get stuck paying renewals forever. That is why I view new extensions as DoA because end users just do not value domain names. The will always add another word or hyphen or abbreviation etc to avoid the aftermarket.

That is maybe because the marketing of apartment leasing is usually done through third party platform. (airbnb for example, etc)

Hello!

I am still a newbie and would like to ask you some questions about your post :)

1. Why is LiveFootballScore is less premium than FootballScore? Is it because the former has 3 words while the latter has 2 words hence more memorable?

2. Is there a way to know the selling price of FootballScore if the sale happened log time ago? I mean yeah we got daily market sales report on Namebio, but if I want to search for a specific domain name's selling price, is there a way to know it?

Thanks before!

Few long tailed domains I have sold, sold a few more just don't remember at the moment. I never let the length of a domain scare me, sometimes you need the full length to describe a object or service
PracticePermitTest.com 1.5k
ArmyCombatUniform.com 250.00
MedicarePartA.com 300.00
MedicarePartC.com 300.00
FirstTimeHomeBuyerTaxCredit.com 300.00
HomeBuyerTaxCredit.com 2k
MedicarePartD.com 28k
Underwaterweldingschools.com 300.00

Joe T

Hello Joe T,

I am very curious about one of your sales, why the selling price of Medicare Part D ($28k) is so much higher than Medicare Part A and Medicare Part C selling price ($300)??

Thank you.

Thank you.
Medicare part D, is a competitive prescription plan that doesn't come with traditional medicare, parts a +B pretty much everyone has, partC is more commonly called medicare advantage. All 4 went to auction at sedo,so that was what the market was willing to pay at the time.

Hi,

Thanks for the Q's

1) It's actually 'Football Scores', not 'score' and 'Live' would be a dilution of the former. Maybe one wants some score history but in general it's the latest results, so in general, just Football Scores would be all that is required, thus two words instead of three. And if you look at FootballScores.com its live.

2) Yes you can check further back in the search, in fact FootballScores.com sold for $37,500 at T.R.A.F.F.I.C in 2008.

;) Cheers.

I reg'd ManageYourDNS.com to help me to resolve my DNS problems. I found it on a drop list. I wonder if I did the right thing though - a few times I've typed "manage my DNS". I think this illustrates the fact that the more words there are in a name, the more careful you have to be to select a complete natural phrase.
