The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
You need to know what those numbers as a whole and also individually may stand for in various cultures/countries etc. For example 8 is good luck, 4 is bad luck in Chinese culture. Also the patterns of the numbers makes a diff. Then there's the availability of only so many, for example there is only 100 nn, and only 1000 nnn domains per extension. So just owning a number domain probably won't take you to the promise land! Unless it's a NN.

It's a cultural thing. While you are completely at ease with Roman alphabets, it is not so for the Chinese. Their language uses ideographs instead of alphabets. While hanyu-pinyin is used to bridge the gap, ideographs and and Hindu-Arabic numbers are far more natural to the Chinese, especially for mnemonic ease among the the less educated-ones. Aside from that, the vocalization of numbers can convey bonus meanings to sequence of numbers.

Most 6N COM don't go over $100, unless they have an interesting pattern or repeating numbers. I think every 6N is probably still registered. They were all bought out last year in a mad rush, but many are getting dropped now. I've been picking up a few here and there with low cost backorders.

With 5N COM they seem to be bottoming out at around $400 right now. You can see sales reports here:

shortnames.com/5n/sales
namebio.com/?s=AM1MjNzkTO

The nice thing with these number domains is that they have built in rarity - there are only 10,000 NNNN.com, and 100,000 NNNNN.com. The downside is that they are not really used commonly by end users. Most people would rather use a domain name like poolservice.com for their website, instead of a domain name like 123523.com - so it limits your resale potential.

Ah I see. Thanks for clearing it up for me :) I've got a backorder of $75 on a 5N.com wasn't sure whether or not I was wasting my money on it or not... I think going off what you said it's worth keeping as a back-order as I could probably make a couple hundred on it. Thanks for the advice.

Out of billions of images on the internet, what are the chances that two people, who joined the forum on the same day, will select the exact same image for their profile, and then, make consecutive posts in the same thread?
