Hello,

I am still new to the Domain industry, have had a reasonable sale with flipping a domain, have been concentrating on short one word domains.

But I am starting to look at creating, registering and selling

I have been studying the Domain industry and have been playing around with SEMRush, to get an idea of words I could use in a domain and I have chosen my industry that I am going to specialize in too My question is this (and apologies if it seems very basic), where do you go from there, do you just target the top keywords and see if they are available as a Domain? Is there a place to test Domains before I register?

Thanks in advance, sorry about ridiculous questions,

Cryptghost

Hi @Cryptghost

Welcome to NP, hope you enjoy ur stay and all the best with ur domaining adventures.

I think the best thing for you to do is READ, read, read...(the beginners section on the Forum) then when you done reading......read some more :)

Be sure make use of tools like namebio and Dn.prices to check out sales history of domains.

Thanks Deez007, I will read as much as I can, have also been listening to podcasts, reading sites. but namepros seems to be one of the best resources for learning the domain industry, have been reading domainhserpa & domain name wire. But if there are any other sites worth reading let me know,

Thanks for your time

U can use estibot.com for appraisal , domainiq and whois for email extraction. If you want more buyers for a domain u can use lead generator

Forget about automatic appraisal tools :) They simply do not work even remotely ok.

Use namebio.com to check what currently sells and dnpric.es to check the sales for any keyword. Pay special attention to extention (should be .com), length (the shorter the better, also less syllables are better), whether the words are common (more common are better) and whether its a good name for a corporation. Remember that your clients are corporations, firms, highly paid professionals, but not cool kids and hobbyists. Use expireddomains.net to look for recent drops that can be registered. Always check fail.namewest.com so as not to buy a banned domain.

Registering might not be the best strategy. Consider buying names at GD Closeouts. If you plan to buy a registered name, check its history at whoisrequest.com - the earlier was its first registration and the less time it has remained unregistered, the better. Consider paying for cheap dropcatch at Dynadot or Pheenix.

Prepare to lose money while you are learning to recognize the value of domains. It is not easy to make money by domaining, not at all. It is even more difficult to make money by hand-registering domains or by buying cheap domains. Some would say that a better strategy is to resell names that cost to you $100+ or even $500+ - however, that is too costly before you learn to recognize the value of domains.

U can use estibot.com for appraisal and lead generation and get whois history for the domain, Sometimes the previous owners are willing to buy the domains. Note that estibot is a paid tool and is not very accurate for estimation of small and non .com domains. What you must do is just google (and by google, I mean use every search engine you can. Their search algorithms are different) related keywords and see if you can get enough leads. Higher the number of leads you can find, better the sales can be.
Keep Domaining :glasses:
