Buy the .UK and let me know what the name is so I can buy the .co.uk and get your traffic :xf.smile:

If both are available get the .Co.uk as I was told by registrar whoever owns the .Co.uk version of a domain they automatically get rights to .uk. I tried to reg a .UK because the .Co.uk was taken. I was told I can't because I had to show proof I owned the .Co.uk first.

So if you get the .UK first? And someone gets the .Co.uk? You are screwed and must forfeit. So I'm told .

they are moving to the .uk only in 2019 but til then the .co.uk has the right to own the .uk if so desired unless the .uk was registered first.

I stand corrected! So you CAN get the .UK first if you beat anyone else from getting the .Co.uk

But simply getting .UK does not give you automatic rights to .Co.uk

It only works thee other way around.

Thanks Wesley!

yes , Also after some searching this is what i noticed:
Quoting Jasper Schilperoord(you can find this in another thread on the same topic on NP)
"A .co.uk / .org.uk / .me.uk domain registration prior to 10th of June 2014 grants the current holder first .uk rights untill 10th of June 2019.Registration of .uk domains for which the .co.uk / .org.uk / .me.uk domains was registered after the 10th of June 2014 is on a first come, fist served basis."
