Hope you guys are doing great. Today I got the payment in my bank account and it's a very happy day for me. Here are the details

Domain name: Exact.org
Sale venue: Outbound
Seller: Me
Asking price: $6000
Sale price: $2500
Purchase price: $261 on NameJet (March 2016)

It was my 2nd ever purchase (The first one was a .net domain). Most of the people told me to stick with .com. However I decided to go for 1 strong dictionary word .net and 1 strong dictionary word .org (got the inspiration from one of @Zandibot blogposts).
For the first few months I didn't get any inquiry on Exact.org so In October 2016 I started outbound and emailed dozens of potential end users. I was not sending emails to their general email addresses i.e info@ or contact@ etc but researched and contacted the right person in the company. The hard work paid off and got the reply from one big company and we finalized the deal on $2500. I could have squeezed more money but did some blunders in the negotiations. Thanks to @AbdulBasit.com and @indiegrind for their support throughout the sale process. I thank all the namepros community as well. If there was no namepros i don't think i would have been in this domaining business at all.
The reason for creating this new thread is to encourage our new fellow domainers because in past the sales posts/threads were inspiration for me and I used to think that may be one day i will be able to sell my domain on a good price and that will be start of it. So here is that day....
All the best.

Congrats! You've just proven that you can also make a lot of money not only in .com but from other gtld as well. More success to come.
Thanks...Yes. These are hard to sell but good single, short dictionary words in these proven gtld's always have chances to sell on good price.

Was the buyer a larger type organization, or more small business type?

First person who comes to mind is the .com owner
Exactly. .com owners bought the domain. They have .net version as well..

Good sale .Strong dictionary .org always a good deal. There is always an enduser in my honest opinion for a good .org.Good you kept all the profit and completed sale through escrow and not give 20% to anyoneB-).
Thanks. No deductions at all...That's extra happiness. lol...
congrats bro ..A good move for domain sales for beginners .
Yes... Thanks.. Will build my portfolio now.. Only got 19 domains.....
Keep it up B
Thanks :)

Great! What kind of companies did you email?
Thanks Insha,,, Well i started with companies having "Exact" in their domain / company name and there are lots of them....
Thanks :)
hmmm.. escrow.com ads up to about 20% in fees if seller pays it ;)
so its not that he did't pay fees to anyone cause he used escrow.com, he didn't pay them cause buyer paid for him :)
Actually they paid around $238 as they have chosen escrow concierge services + they used paypal to pay escrow.com (Costs more). Otherwise the normal fee would be as less as $81....
Congrats mate
Thanks :)
Congrats on your sale! :)
Thanks :)
Congrats.. Keep moving..
Thanks.. Hopefully :)

Yeah... Actually for the first few months i had around 10 domains and normally you won't get inquires on such less number of domains (Unless you have some top domains)....
Only started outbound in October and i can see the results......
Thanks for your kind wishes.... Hope you sell your domains in very less time.. :)

Congrats on your sale (y)

Thanks mate......I targeted companies having "Exact" in their domain/company name.... I found 100's of them.....

They used concierge on a small sale fees can easily add up to such levels
I am not sure but all i know is they paid $238...
I am also not sure when the domain will be transferred to the actual buyer.. Currently domain is transferred to escrow concierge and as per ICANN rules they can't transfer it to anyone for atleast 60 days.... Any idea?

Escrow fees aren't 20%

lol escrow is so full of bugs
thats why I never use them
belive it or not when I wrote my post I actualy went to check their page to calculate fees, and after entering $2500 it showed me $181
no concierge option or nothing. just total $181!

today I go and it works fine and shows 81$

what a buggy place. yuk.

cheers

Thanks.... I wish....lol... Not yet mate... Actually I have around 19 domains.... I will try to buy around 80 more domains this year....Hopefully :)

Yes you are right... I liked it the most and wanted to renew it for like 5 years and wait for the right buyer.... However at start I had to sell something to keep things moving. I out reached for 10 of my domains and managed to sell only one i.e Exact.org.

Wow, what a happy ending for 2016! Congratulations, dude! :xf.smile:
Thanks a lot dude..... All the best for 2017.... :)

Thanks.. Great results indeed :)..... The .net is Parameter.net. The outreach isn't successful on this name.. Hope to sell it soon....

Congrats Owais bhai. I'm very happy for you and you did great in terms of squeezing out 2.5K with your first sale. But honestly speaking, this domain was worth lot more but considering your first sale and situation, accepting 2.5K isn't bad.

Wish you all the best in 2017 and hope you have many more and that too big sales.

Thanks a lot Abdul Basit. Your guidance made it possible and I am very thankful for that. Yes the domain worth a lot but I had to sell it to keep things moving. Now with this money I can buy a couple more quality domains and I am hopeful that I will make more sales in 2017. Best wishes for you mate.

The buyer probably would have paid a bit higher and you the seller would have taken less You both got a good deal on this.congrats ,PS dont get too loose with your profit if your gonna go out hunting ,try to catch something someone will want, times after big sales is when we pick up crap that is so so ,which leads to having to renew the stuff which seems like in the blink of the eye,try to stay away from the feast or famon part of domaining ,most people here including yours truly have been through .congràt. ben

Thanks Ben.... I outreached potential buyers for around 10 of my domains and at that point I understood how difficult it is to sell a domain that people don't want or they have other alternatives.... I understood the value of a top domain that time... So yes this is on my mind and I will try to buy something that someone will want.... Otherwise it is wastage of money... On aftermarkets good domains are always out of my budget so trying to find some other ways to acquire good names....

Congrats looks like you're going to have a great year in domaining!
Thanks :)
Hopefully ..... Wish you success in this new year as well....

congratulations!
Thanks :)
