Why .ONLINE ?

For the online world, there may be no new TLD more fitting than .ONLINE, because it offers a broadly defined, generic term for open registration.

.ONLINE is perfect for any brick and mortar store trying to establish an online presence – yourstore.ONLINE, for example – or for any publication,

band, artist, or writer that offers a print product as well as an online version.

.ONLINE isn’t restricted to these examples, however, and can be used by any individual or organization for any reason.

Info

Hackathons are a big tradition at Facebook.
They serve as the foundation for some great (and not so great) ideas. It gives our employees the opportunity to try out new ideas and collaborate with other people in a fun environment.

I don't have some to showcase, but thought I would point out that .online has been selling really well in 2018YTD. If you look at the top 10 sales ever in .online, 7 of them have been in 2018 (1 each in 2015, 2016, 2017). Also, there have been 87 NameBio listed sales overall, with 50 of those in 2018YTD. Here is the full list at NameBio.

Among the sales just the last few months (design for $57,500; AirConditioning for $19,500, king for $17,250, transparency for $10,000, DMV for $5101).

I did a little blog post today on the momentum in .online domain sales, if interested.

I dug a little into some of the recent major .online sales and found the (same) end user for two of them. The Australian headquartered King Living (in business since 1977) bought both king.online and design.online, each for 5 figures, in mid September via Sedo (but it would appear Radix Registry sales, not sure). They are already operational in redirecting to the company's traditional com.au website. Will be interesting to see if they eventually move to .online for website, or only plan redirection. The company currently operates in Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia and Singapore, and has expansion plans including Canada. Anyway, if interested I wrote the story up in a short blog post here.
