Hi ,

Today I received emails from the Godaddy that my domain name was transfer out to another registrar.
But I didn't authorize this transfer. I didn't receive any requests regarding this transfer.
Somebody stole my domain name from my the Godaddy account.

My email address has OTP enabled. No chance somebody else had access to my email.

Need help. Any ideas ?

Regards.

VIP Account Exec: Luke Hintze
Still waiting for him.

No.
But support told me that the domain name was unlocked today at night.
And I didn't receive email notification about it and no notification about changing email address.

The information I found is next -

In 2012 I have agreed with the godaddy fast transfer process. But I don't remember and cannot find it.
Also I added my domains to Afternic but little bit later a removed all my domains from my account. And it was empty since February 2015.

Today my domain was sold by somebody through the Afternic.
I didn't list it there and I removed all my domains in 2015.

The Godaddy support told me I have accepted the deal in 2014 and no matter how much time have passed.

But once again - I didn't list my domain with the Afternic. I didn't sell it there. I even don't know what price it was listed by someone.

And actually I don't understand how it possible that someone can list my domain name and sell it.

Can anybody please explain what the hell all these mean ?

Regards,
V.

They have a special URL you can go to, but I can't recall it now.

In any case you need to take care of this right away.

And enable 2 factor auth on your GD account now so this doesn't happen again

So the situation is next.

I own the domain name since 2011
Someone listed my domain in 2012 with the Afternic
In 2013 I created my account with Afternic and added all my domains

But because of domain conflict the domain wasn't added into my account. I didn't know it.

In 2015 I decided not to work with the Afternic and called them to ask to remove all my domains from my account with them.

And finally today, at 4:55am the domain was sold through the Afternic from account it was listed in 2012.
It is not my account. I don't know who own it. But I know that this person doesn't own my domain name.
But he/she sold it.

And the Godaddy moved my domain automatically without my permissions because in 2014 I was opted-in fast transfer program.

But I removed all my domains from Afternic from my account in 2015.
But someone listed it until today in his/her account.

I didn't sell my domain name.
Guys, can somebody explain to me, what is going on ?

Regards,
V.

I don't like the sound of that.

I think we all should be worried if it is possible for Afternic to sell a domain and take it out of our account without our consent and possibly give the $ to someone else who does not even own the domain anymore.

This is very troubling.

If Afternic sold the domain and it was removed from your account, you are expected to get paid. Obviously, if it was an accident and you object to it, you need to get clarification from Afternic about who listed the domain. It might be an issue, as GoDaddy did not own Afternic in 2012 and they don't have records from that era, as far as I know.

As someone suggested, contact @Joe Styler here.

I don't like the sound of that either..

I think we all entered that type of agreement once the 2 companies merged ( aka GD bought Afternic ).
Also this is not a 2 FA issue..the domain was transferred automatically BECAUSE of the agreement not because the account or email were hacked.

If they were the OP wouldn't have received the email informing him of the transfer out.

@Joe Styler please give us the link we to get out of that agreement. Thank you

Who received the money from this sale?
Did you ask this to godaddy/afternic?

Yes , I asked them.
They said that because of domain is not in my account / never was listed in my account and it is not me who sold it, they will contact me tomorrow with further instructions.

I have also filled out the Godaddy Transfer Dispute form (did it twice)
https://supportcenter.secureserver.net/TransferDispute/Index?prog_id=GoDaddy

The lawyer said he wasn't able to reach their legal department and according to his experience it is very difficult to do. The most probable way is through the UDRP.

I remember that Afternic shows a red error saying smth like "this domain is already listed" when your domain is listed in another account. Then you just have to contact support and ask them to remove the old listing. I've done this already and it worked.

Sorry, there is also your fault here...

There is no my fault here.
I removed all my domains from my account with Afternic in 2015. And it is empty since Feb. 2015.
So even if the domain was in my account it was removed in Feb.2015 with all others my domains. I decided not to work with the Afternic.
