Intro - My name's Matt, and I recently got into websites like Naming Force, SquadHelp, etc., where you submit brandable and available domain names for 1-200 bucks. Here's the thing - through that, I've come up with a pretty good list of available domain names, and I know that some of them are worth MUCH more than what they have the chance to get me on those crowdsourcing sites. I've gone ahead and bought up a handful to play with, but now I need help transitioning into the new and intimidating world of domain selling.

In general, we're talking 2-real-word domains, 6 letter catchy domains, and a bunch of play-on-words potential business names. I'm not looking to buy 1000 domains and park them, but just want to market and sell a handful of potentially high-value (but currently brand new) brandable names. Currently the names were purchased on NamesCheap, and I was thinking about parking them on Sedo with a 'make offer' on each page. Is that a reasonable way to start?

Examples of names (not mine, but similar to some of mine): Rigago.com, uncommondrive.com, bamboost.com,

Since I am new to this, I value simplicity more than worrying about commission percentage or getting absolute top dollar for the names, but where should I go with brandable names that don't have any existing traffic?

Also: I would love any tips or advice, and I would even be willing to Paypal a demonstrated professional in this a little bit of money for some more specific 1 on 1 advice on the names I currently hold to help get me started...Feel free to reach out to me if you fit the bill.

Thanks!
Matt

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
You can create your own landing pages for each name, so if someone thinks up the name, and types it in to the browser, they'll find that the domain is for sale. Check out Efty.com

- Brandbucket.com - most popular brandable marketplace

-Brandroot.com - probably second most popular (maybe?)

-Create your own Brandable Marketplace - actually you can do this with Efty as well.

Anyway to find out more about brandables and where to sell them, see here https://www.namepros.com/forums/brandable-domain-discussion.362/

Nice to meet you Matt.

I love NamingForce and SquadHelp! These sites got me into Brandables too.

You might want to look at Brandbucket as a potential way to market your top quality brandables.

Hey @TheMattador

Welcome to NP....

Hope you njoy ur stay and all the best with ur domaining adventures.

I think before you embark on your 1000 domain expedition spend sometime here and poke around the forum and read, ask questions and learn. Getting a 1 on 1 session with an experienced domain might help you get some insight but you are also limiting yourself to that particular domainers style/influence/opinions. I think you would be better of reading and learning the forum than having a 1 on 1 session with a single domainer... (just my opinion though)

:)

Thanks for the suggestions everybody! I'll definitely give BrandBucket a try as I starting trying to figure this out, and I appreciate all the other feedback too. I went ahead and bought another dozen of my top brandable sites, so we'll see how this goes!

Welcome... You can put them in Brandbucket.com

Branbucket and Brandroot are two obvious places to list your brandable domains.

You can also try on the various market places (GD, sedo, flippa...)

If the domain relates to a subject (keyword or almost-keyword), you can also identify potential buyers using google search and contact businesses directly.

Are they really worth that much more? It's good to know the brand market is SATURATED. Top quality sells for big bucks nowadays.

Don't waste your time listing with the brandable marketplaces, a majority of sales as we know are reached by typed in, or marketing. So why not set up your own really cool landing page with a PayPal or escrow link to finalise a deal. With a few bucks you can use CMS or I understand the likes of efty.com are good.
;)B-)

The time it takes getting a domain into BB sounds like it's not ideal, too. I agree with trying to market some of these to end users yourself.

Just a quick followup for everyone that's given me advice... I've set up an Efty site with all of my names at nameforclaim(dot)com. I'm starting to realize that some of the names that I thought were great really aren't, but I still think there are some gems in there! Feel free to take a look and give me some feedback.
