Question regarding pre-appraisals

Yes, of course they can and someone probably will register it if the domain is good.

This thread is just here to help novices not register bad domains and save their money. If you feel strongly that a domain if really good, register it first before you ask for an appraisal.

I would go ahead and register the name and get a refund if you need to.

Only deal with a few registrars..so do they all offer refunds?

Personally, when I thinking about registering a domain or even buying one..I have a few members here that I can PM for their opinion.

You would have to check with the individual registrars regarding their policies, I know godaddy will do refunds. I believe there it is 5 days and they are very strict about that. I missed the window once by just a few hours.

Thanks @Traveler. That is one of reasons that I only deal with a few. Bought a few that I regretted the next morning (lol) so a refund policy is a must for me.

I think we have done a few late night "regs" we regret in the morning.

I've been known to regret my purchases right after hitting the Buy button. It's nerve-wracking isn't it?

I'm not talking about buying a domain. I'm talking about registering it. That's super cheap. I could come up with one word .coms that are available all day long. I guess the real trick is to know which one will click in the minds of cyberers.

Yes, you have to get out of your head and into the game.

Every domaining newbie has/had at least one mentor, you may search for one?

It is in every business advantegeous to have someone who is always better than you.

In your case, you could ask someone you trust personally and think he/she is very experienced; the other person shouldn't think you just spam them though -- you should keep in mind to always build win-win connections.

I thought I was trying to do that...

Nothing. It's one reason (but not the only one) why I think pre-appraisals are useless. My advice is buy domains that you could use, for which you have a vision.
If you are not even sure it's worth $10, then you are not confident and ready enough.

Hint: if you wouldn't use the domain for a real business, then don't buy it.

Registering always feel like super cheap but then you end up with so many domains which none of them sell
we all had similar experience. So before doing same mistake, better stop registering and reading more about pros what they say..

IMO my personal research Pre-Purchase serves as my Pre- Appraisal.

It is personal to what I strive to do and falls within my own vision of a name's usefulness both short term and long term.

So I would not consider a pre-purchase appraisal since as you are aware, you cannot stop another party from registering your desired name while it is being " pre-purchase-appraised " by others.
