I will renew only ultra chip 5Ls: aaabc, abccc, abbbc, aabbc, abbcc etc.

For others "drop" (550-600 domain)

I think despite the overall pickup in the chinese market in recent days and weeks 5l.coms are still highly risky.
The Chinese pumped up the same categories, 4l's, 5/6ns etc. at the same time last year and then vanished before 5l's could become a real market. They had another go around Feb I think it was but it still fell 10% short or so from sellout and since then most have been worthless.

It's hard to be anything other than pragmatic here, $10k invested - $0 back = mega fail.

Will see if anything major happens in the coming 2 weeks to change my mind. Assuming not and the pumps going on now fall away again will drop most or all what I have coming up for renewal. What would be really dumb would be to fall for the same hype as last year, renew a ton of them and then watch the Chinese run again for another year.

I only have five or six of these and did reg them for two years so I have another year to think about it, probably drop if not sold by then

Just deleted around 400. Talk about a waste of time and money lol.
Fortunately I made ROI overall in Chinese speculative markets. I've learnt much from this experience and others i'm sure have too. I know someone that has lost big 6 figures in the last year investing in chinese hype so it's all relative.

Don't fall for hype with no proven end user market is the obvious lesson for me.

On 5L.COMs?

Not just 5l's I should add but 5l's included in that whopping loss.

Bottom line 5l's are incredibly risky. I could have put that $10k into stocks, ethereum etc. just about anything in the last year and made money. Instead I put them into this which yielded $0.

Lesson learnt!

Of course most of us will them drop them this year (including me), but also time will come for 5L's -- nobody knows exactly when, but if it should come be prepared to not act like a butthurt.

Hindsight is 20/20. The whole Chinese domain boom went a lot further than anyone had expected, so the speculative optimism towards 5L.coms was not entirely without basis, even in the face of the crazy numbers needed to reach a buyout.

"Big six figures" is a crazy amount to spend (and lose) on something so uncertain though. That’s not an amount to play with! (unless you got really deep-pockets and can afford to lose it)

I am accumulating the last 3 months dropping 5L chips, total number is 47559 and I checked today taken is 73,82%

10 days stats droppings 5173, taken 73,03%

Maybe it would be useful I think 50% to be renewed.
