I know parking domain names can be profitable but why not develop your domain names into mini affiliate websites that generate more revenue?

I enjoy making and developing websites and was wondering if anyone here would be interested in a service that puts your parked domain names to good use?

Thinking about offering a service like this -
  • Wordpress installation
  • Keyword research
  • Logo and theme installation and basic customisation.
  • 5 - 10 pages of UNIQUE content each page with around 1000+ words
  • Social media account set up - instagram, pinterest, twitter and facebook pages
  • basic seo package to help rank the site
Would also have bigger packages which include more content and bigger seo package.

Basically, these would be mini affiliate sites promoting a choice of clickbank, amazon or cpa offers from cpa networks.

Would anyone here be interested in this at all?
Thanks!

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
There are several example websites in the article I linked to. Check them on archive.org around 2009 - 2010.

Epik still sells the affiliate and ecommerce site on epik.com

They are all down or just parked. Will have to look at archive.
Back in 2009 - 2010 a lot has changed as well. Before the big updates, people used to get away with selling junk because it was a lot easier to rank or game the system so to speak. These days is all about quality in my opinion. Quality content, quality links, quality social media accounts with good engagement and quality onsite seo. Again, these won't be anything like those type of sites.

Thanks again. Will check archive on those sites.

Just had a look through icecreammaker.com the articles aren't too bad, could be al ot better and the on site optimisation could be a lot better. All the product descriptions are obviously scrapped from amazon though. I'm thinking these sites got hit because -
  1. The backlinks were sh!t
  2. To much duplicate content
  3. They used pbn links that were poorly set up. I myself am not a fan of pbn links by the way.
Had they been still up and active, these sites may have bounced back after googles latest updates. If they had bad links there are plenty of bad link removal services.

The main problem I'm thinking is time and how long it takes to rank a site. I've found some sites can rank faster than others using the techniques I've found that work. On average it's around 2 months for sites to start ranking, sometimes soon, sometimes a little more but it's around 2 months depending on the keyword and how competitive it is. Google normally does a bit of a dance with the site and keywords and once it's done its dance it starts creeping up in the search engines until it sticks - hopefully in the top 3.

Bing, I've found is pretty easy and faster to rank but I'm greedy and try and rank both Bing and Google.

^ Some people don't like waiting this long because they are after instant results. This is the main thing that worries me - people getting frustrated because they don't see fast results.

I don't know about that. I'm the type of person who would make certain the customer is happy, I just wouldn't be able to sleep at night if they weren't. The service would be very well explained once it's all planned out and I would also offer some kind of satisfaction guarantee.

@DomainChap Thanks for the comment. Some good advice/feedback there. I'm definitely considering it. I would be extremely strict with the quality of content and how it's written. There will definitely be discounts to x amount of members here, thinking those with good reputations that will give good honest feedback on the quality.

Price points, again I would have to take a good look at this. I agree, I wouldn't want to undersell but at the same time want to make it affordable.

Thanks again for your comment. Appreciate it.

I am an internet marketer primarily, domaining for me is secondary. So I have portfolio of my own sites as well that I have ranked but also have loads of domains that are not for sale but are sitting in my "must develop" pile. Unfortunately time is my biggest obstacle, I have tried outsourcing content and design before but was never able to get the quality I wanted. A service like yours sounds like something that would be of interest to me if it's reasonably priced and good quality. From the looks of it you know what you are talking about so It's certainly got my interest.... ;)

Great to here from other marketers! Thanks for your comment and interest.
Still working on price points and plans/packages but will keep in touch if and once I go ahead.

Just so everyone knows, I will be mainly doing this as a hobby. I really enjoy making websites and love the challenge of ranking them. But what I really enjoy and get more of a reward from is helping others. So, if I do press forward I'd be doing this with passion and a goal to make each website a profitable investment.

I know there is a lot of frustration with parking domain names and seeing the small return, so something like this might be a better option.

For those who are interested in having a site developed this is something to think about -

Most websites that have earnings sell anywhere between 10 - 36 times monthly revenue. There are a few factors which determines the end value but if you take a look at the low end and you have a site which is making $2000 per month this can easily sell for $20,000 - $35,000 - That's if you decide to sell it.

I don't want to get ahead of myself or make promises but my goal would to develop each site so they are making $500 - $5000 per month. Might sound optimistic to some, but it's definitely doable with the right approach/set up and sales funnel.

Definitely wont be making any promises but that is the vision.

I'd appreciate if you could give links to some sample sites that you have already developed. I'm certainly interested and would like to develop some sites around domains that I've recently registered for this very purpose. Thanks :)

This will be a good idea,. as long as you can put unique features. And to start, provide free packages for a limmited time. Get feedback from the early users to make the next version .. only after this you should offer different types of topics.

@domain07 and @rhakim
thank you both for your comments and advice. I will definitely be giving some heavily discounted sites for reviews. Maybe even a freebie, will have to see.

This wont be happening for at least a week. I need to properly plan everything. I do have a project I'm working on now for someone, just waiting for the green light on something, but once that's finished I will focus on getting this up and running.

Thanks again everyone for your thoughts and feedback. This forum rocks!

@PoliticalVII Thanks for your comment and interest. All of you are definitely motivating me more and more to set this up.

I need a week or so to get everything organised because I have some things I need to get done before I get going with this. I also want to make sure everything is well planned out so the service is of the most top quality and so those who order do make money from this.

I have a lot of experience with affiliate marketing, so I'm very confident those who do order will be very satisfied.

As for review copies, I'm thinking 3-5 people only. Those who do get a review copy will have to give an absolute honest review of the service I provide. I would also like to invite np members that have high reputation on the board to give it a try, maybe an admin, mod or someone who has contributed a lot to the boards.

Again, this will take some time to set up. I will create a website where people can order from or they can order from here as well. I've never offered a service on np before so I will have to have a good read over the rules in the services forum.

Spots will be limited so I can create quality rather than quantity.

I really do appreciate everyone's feedback on here. I'm still open to suggestions and features you would like added.

Basically I'm thinking 3 different planes for affiliate sites and 1 plan for an ecommerce site. I've had a couple of requests for ecom sites so I will also include these.

I will try and make this as affordable as possible so anyone can give it a try but at the same time, please realise this will be a quality service with a goal to make your money back many times over...

Thanks again all :)

THe template functionality should be like word, where it is very easy to change the fonts , coloms etc, as compared to wordpress which each function needs widget. Add build in article generator.

Thanks for your suggestion @rhakim
Wordpress is very powerful. I can work with other platforms but I'd prefer to work with wordpress. Reason being is 1. The plugins available are amazing. 2. It's super easy to manage - so if the the customer wants to continue adding content after the site is finished they can with ease. I can also offer some training if needed.

But again, I can work with other platforms. For those interested in ecommerce sites,I have experience with shopify, vend and woocommerce. I will be also including an ecommerce package for those interested in drop shipping or having a store set up.

I'm off to bed everyone. Enjoy your day/night where ever you are :)

@domainerdan89
Thanks for your comment and question. I'm going to try and make it as affordable as possible without selling myself short.
I'm thinking prices will be starting from around the $199 - $247 for the basic package.

This basic package will include:
  • niche research + monetisation research
  • keyword research
  • wordpress installation (or other cms if perferred)
  • logo
  • theme customisation
  • 10 pages of quality content that is crafted to convert (around 10,000 words of content).
  • Each page will have images and on page seo (the same way I optimise my sites)
  • Additional pages like contact us, privacy, affiliate disclosure and tos.
  • email account set up
  • Very basic seo for indexing.
  • Price around $199 - $247
There will be discounts for bulk orders as well and I will have add-ons such as seo packages and extra content.

Next package will include a lot more:

  • niche research + monetisation research
  • keyword research
  • wordpress installation (or other cms if perferred)
  • logo
  • theme customisation
  • 20 pages of quality content that is crafted to convert (around 20,000 words of content).
  • Each page will have images and on page seo (the same way I optimise my sites)
  • Additional pages like contact us, privacy, affiliate disclosure and tos.
  • email account set up
  • Sales funnel/email opt-in and autoresponder set up - 3 sequences.
  • Very basic seo for indexing.
  • Price around $399 - $450
Package 3 will be the complete package:

  • niche research + monetisation research
  • keyword research - I will find a mix of keywords with buyer intent, high cpc and generic keywords to get traffic to offers.
  • wordpress installation (or other cms if perferred)
  • logo
  • theme customisation
  • 30 pages of quality content that is crafted to convert (around 30,000 words of content).
  • Each page will have images and on page seo (the same way I optimise my sites)
  • Related youtube videos on each page
  • Social media page set up for Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest and Facebook.
  • Additional pages like contact us, privacy, affiliate disclosure and tos.
  • email account set up
  • Sales funnel/email opt-in and autoresponder set up - 10 sequences.
  • Amazon affiliate store(optional)
  • Seo for indexing.
  • Seo link package add on free.
  • Price around $699 - $800
Seo link building package add ons will range between $99 - $300. These can be used on existing sites as well. It takes around 2 months for the links to fully kick in and these will be quality links. I do not do pump and dump campaigns. These packages will be designed for long term rankings. I still have sites ranking in the top 3 for hundreds of keywords that have stuck for over 12 months.

Each site will be set up how I build sites using silo structured layouts with on page seo including optimised titles, descriptions, h1, h3 tags, optimised images with keyword rich alt and title tags, keyword rich content. Regarding content - this wont be over optimised because I believe it should be optimised for readers not so much for search engines. I would rather have content that's engaging and converts into sales.

There will be discounts for bulk orders, repeat customers and I will also do discounts for subscribers as well. Once I'm up and running more details will be revealed but these are the price points I'm looking at for the moment.

I will have an ecommerce package as well. This will be a premium service for those who want a quality drop shipping business. This will include sourcing for suppliers, unique product descriptions, content for categories, important pages, logo, theme customisation, social media pages set up. I can also do branded clothing with print on demand services like printful and customcat (Example - skullsy.com). Again this will be a more premium service and it will depend on what type of store.

Would love everyone's feedback on the prices and features that are included. Still open to suggestions.
I really do want to make this into a killer service that people are going to be very happy with. I would much rather have people who are extremely happy and satisfied with what they pay for rather than have people say it's "Okay" or "Good service...But"..

@JoeFixit will do and thanks for your comment and interest. Look forward to working with you.

Also, a huge thank you to those who are messaging me about this, I really appreciate your feedback and interest. You all rock!

I'm going to be super busy over the weekend trying to get some big projects finished so I can focus on getting this kickin...So if I don't reply to your messages or replies I will get to them as soon as possible.

Thanks everyone.

Hi @magnizmo

I am interested in this but I have few questions.

1) Is there any guarantee that our mini-sites will make money?

2) Any rough estimate on how much a website can make if we apply for the basic package? Which factors are involved? I have a domain name I would like to develop, it was registered in 2001 and the keywords get 20k-30k monthly searches on average. How much can it make per month?

3) Will the content be updated? Who will be responsible for management of the website? And will there be any extra charges for updates?

4) All the revenue in the basic package will be through the ads right? With the increased use of Ad Blockers, do you think these mini-sites will be successful?

Thanks.
