This thread is a central location to report domain name sales of any dollar amount.

As much information as you can include about the transaction is welcome, but at a bare minimum please include the domain name(s), the sale price, and whether you were the seller.

Good luck with your sales!

  • Tip: Use the Like/Thanks feature instead.

Questions are allowed, but do not post commentary. If you want to discuss or comment on a sale in this thread, quote it and then post it in the following thread instead:

Great name, great sale! If you don't mind me asking, how did you acquire the domain? Was there an auction?
I discovered the domain when it was in “pre-release” status at NameJet.com, where it had 0 bids. I was going to place an order for the domain in the last 10 seconds of the pre-release period, in order to get it without anyone else noticing/also backordering it. If you place an order in advance with NameJet, 10-40 other bidders are, on average, going to place an order for it too (depending on how far in advance you place the backorder). Since NJ backorders are public to everyone, and lots of domainers backorder (and later bid on) every single domain that someone else has already backordered at NameJet, it's nearly impossible to get a good price in this way.

However, it turned out that I wouldn't be free to “snipe” backorder the domain just before the end of the pre-release period on that day, so I decided to take my chances and bet that nobody else would backorder it, so that it would go to "pending delete" instead. If I had place a backorder in advance, I would have to bid against a bunch of other bidders, and probably wouldn’t have won the name anyway.

Eventually nobody backordered the domain when it was in pre-release at NJ, and when it went to pending delete I placed backorders for it and caught it on the drop. Apparently I was the only one who discovered/saw value in the name as it went through two rounds of availability without anyone else backordering it at either stage!

Volted (.) com

Sale Price: $2499 at Afternic

Asking Price: BIN of $3595 with a minimum offer of $1500
Purchase price: Low $xxx here (Name Pros) about 6 weeks ago.

Details: The name was forwarded to my Afternic BIN/make offer page. I sent out a few (maybe 10) outbound emails. The message was very simple and instructed the party to visit Afternic if they had interest in acquiring the name.

Congrats on the great flip! Although, I don't really understand your logic in directing people to Afternic - why not an escrow page. You did all of the work and now you want to share your revenue with someone else. If you bring the end user to the table, Afternic/Sedo/etc... provide no real value in scenarios like this IMO.

Probably people will trust the US company than individual?

Afternic makes the transfer process extremely easy for the buyer and seller. For those buyers who are unfamiliar with the process, knowing that the payment and transfer process is very simple, might make their decision to buy a little bit easier IMO.

Also, I spent very little time on the outbound, maybe an 30-45mins. The domain was within the 60day transfer lock and with a registrar that is not part of their network. Afternic handled all of this, no questions asked and I had $ in my account in less than 1 week.

Why not your own landing page like efty ? You are driving the traffic to your page. So you can negotiate yourself and could have saved $500 commission

Fantastic sale! Two questions for you...how long was the negotiation process, and were there other offers which you declined in the years you held the domain? This is the kind of information we can learn from.

Sold: D/o/c/t/o.org
Purchase price: reg fee august 2016
Sale platform: Outbound emails
Quoted price: $190
Final price: $190

This to me was the best lead so I didnt want to lose it by quoting a price too high. I did 1 outbound round in early august, forgot about it, suddenly got a reply a few days ago with a price request.

I might have been able to get a higher price, but in fairness this domain was mainly useful to refer to their current website and this price was a good price for both me and the buyer.

Buyer was very happy with the sale and how the transaction went and hoped to do business in the future. Always good to hear people think positive about us domainers.

what are after fees?

Although transferring within 60 lock and short process is sometimes worth paying extra for

Decent ROI ;)

hehehe ;)
I'd say roi is above decent
maybe decent or below decent is the domain name
imo ;)

but you never shy away from quick flips either I think so thanks for the note of approval ;)

far as I know... not many keywordDot.com sales around.. from a quick namebio check I did.
can't get too greedy about this syntax imo

cheers, thanks.

Domain name: Revolution/Drone dot com
Sale venue: Sedo
Listing type: BIN
Listing upgrades: None
Seller: Me
Asking price: $199
Sale price: $199
Purchase venue: Newbie handreg
Purchase price: regfee + transfer out fees

Details: This is my first Sedo sale. The domain along with 100+ domains in my portfolio were listed with BIN for about 9 months. The domain was a newbie handreg at Names.co.uk registrar. It was going to expire in less than a month and I would've let it expire. The domain was forwarding to AfterNic, the BIN at AfterNic was $99 while the BIN at Sedo was $199. The buyer didn't ever cared to visit the domain. The domain sold through Tucows (Sedo MLS Partner).

The domain was handregged but cost me more than regfee. As Names.co.uk doesn't unlock the domain and doesn't gives the authorization code unless we pay a 12 GBP transfer out fees. After Sedo's $60 commission I received $139. Congrats @Haris100 :xf.grin:
