.tv USA.tv sold for 125K

Hi guys,
as promised in the other thread I can now update you on the Usa.tv sale that have been closed for 125K.
I have an NDA on the buyer identity and the negotiation, but sale will be reported by me to DNJ.
I can only say thanks to all of you for the suggestions and the tips I've received in these days.
I'm happy with the price I've got, even if in the future it will only increase. In comparison to when I received the 75K offer euro is far way lower on dollar, and this had a big impact on my decision.
I think is also a very good news for the extension, that is a complex one but always give satisfaction.

@HeyNow - Perhaps this link, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Syco, will 'educate' you as to who the buyer is and whether they (and their lawyers) understand exactly the legal situation with regard to .TV domain names. My betting is that they understand it a lot better than either you or I, and we have both been in the domaining business for 10+ years. ;)

Thanks for educating us HeyNow and confirming that all domains are controlled by a body and they are leased.

Yes, and when they are leased from third-world countries, like Tuvalu or Columbia, then the stability of that TLD is only as good as the stability of the country for which it was assigned.

It is true that five and six-figure .TV sales are not as common as the diehard .TV fans proclaim but I can say personally my highest .TV sale of 2015 was a .TV and the only 2015 offer over low $XXX which I rejected was an offer for a .TV (very low $XXXX).

Leonard,
I think the conversation about .TV being suppressed is completely false. I have seen the same repeated conversation for years and its simply not true. .TV has healthy sales, reported or not.

Hello,

Did this deal fall through? I see usa.tv pointed to a uniregistry sales page right now.

If I'm not mistaken, Simon wouldn't know what Uniregistry is so not sure he would be using this platform to sell his domain.

So my guess is that the domain is now owned by a domain investor.

Hello Bob,
domain was sold under NDA but I've never said the buyer was Simon. Due to the agreement I have I can't add more.
Ale.

It's a shame that the buyer wasn't Simon Cowell - that made for an interesting idea.

The upside to this is that we now have some evidence that this sale was to a domainer - so obviously there are some people out there who believe that the likes of Simon Cowell would be prepared to pay even more than the verified figure of $125,000 they shelled out.

That is, in many ways, even more amazing.

As a final note, as the owner of US.tv - which I consider to be the prettier cousin of USA.tv - I would like to declare I am about to put the name up for sale should anyone feel left out.

Whoever bought the name - the fact remains that donnied79 got one hell of a lot of cash for a nights work acquiring the name in March 2010.
