I agree! the key to getting what you want for your domain names is holding for many years for the right buyer to come along.

All Domainers should do same as Mike mann are doing ! Because domaining is all about wait , all domains which he sold are 6 - 8 years old . Mike mann purchased large number of domains in 2010 . He waited for long time to sale these domains .

He recently handreged GoogleOptimization.com, I'm not a trademark expert, but it is not a very risky reg?

As I said, I'm not a trademark expert and did not know that because he once owned Seo.com he can reg different trademark without any problems just adding optimazion as suffix :guilty:

Did you found someone who is interested to buy this domain with the price you set?

i think he should know better what he reged . I owned Michiganlawhelp.com , lawhelp is trademark :guilty: . But no worries they do not have time to file . We are not developing , we are selling and it does not matter . Imo :)

Based on the amount of TM names he has, I don't think he cares that much. He's willing to face the problems that might follow. And if the TM names are hand regs, there's not much to lose. Goes his reasoning, maybe... No idea who is the buyer for these names, though :)

Just to make sure: I don't recommend anyone doing the same.

Great sales!

However, touching Google, apple etc is playing with fire..no excuses or reasoning for that. Companies don't have to only file udrp to get their name.. they can also sue. You could lose much more than the cost of a handreg. You can't accidentally reg "google"

It's worked for me for 13+ years now. Don't sell a ton but don't need to with high margins. B-)

I'd say starting domaining in 2016 isn't like it was in 2002 or 2003 when I started. Back then I would snatch expired domains all day long at reg fee. Today quite a few will end up at auctions due to increased publicity bringing competition in. Flip the junk and hold unto the gems as an $8 domain flipped for 1k in a year isn't as nice as an $8 domain flipped for 2.5-10k even if that takes 5-10+ years to do as holding a domain 5-10 years puts ya out a whopping $40-$80 so cheap enough to keep the gems around. I still have names from when I started that receive handfuls of offers a year that I hold as I'm in no hurry to sell the gems and have the patience to let the market mature. Profit is made on the buy and it's impossible today to purchase similar quality domains I own at $8 so when I sell I make it count as I won't be able to replace that inventory anywhere near my original $8 purchase price. Unless the domain is a niche that will fade away hold your gems for the right offer as replacement cost is a factor to consider into the sales equation.

Mike has a ton of domains redirecting straight to his sales pages so a combo of having the traffic source and having the balls to ask for the price and say no when needed.

Hi to all i have see this post and start to do some search for some domain that sedo, afternic and many other sites say have been sold. I was looking to some of historical domain, i mean domain sold 1 years ago or older and most of them have no content or are parked. So my question is, why someone buy a domain for xxxx or xxxxx dollars to park it or leave it without 1 page?? sold list are fake??
I understand for domain with 3 or 4 letter or 1 important keyword cause they are always a good inversion but all the rest without a content their value it's reg fee or xx or xxx in some case.
I'm new on domain market, i'm a programmer, so i ask to all you that have a lot more experience than me

Some may buy and park for some time to monitor traffic. If it shows the sales were on godaddy it could be that the buyer fell victim to GoDaddy's fake traffic stats.

Yes ok but i will do an example. Look at the domain FIRSTCARD.COM that i have seen on a website that was sold for $125.000 in 2007 and if you enter the page it has nothing, probably parked, same for CARDOO.COM sold for $110.000 ....so you will pay $125.000 or $110.000 and park it to monitor traffic? if i buy pizza.com of course i can do a lot of things, monitor traffic, redirect to other domain..everything but i will never pay more than $100.000 for the other two :) ....but i could be wrong!
