Hi,
I own the .com, .net, and .org for a name. I've never sold a package deal before. Wondering generally if sellers do better with this approach? The .com was appraised for $400. But I would like to unload all three.

Why? Does it matter to my question?

Yes. It's common where a .com has value but the others are worthless, but we can't know unless you tell us the names

thanks. I am new to this, and didn't know if it's safe to mention the actual names. Can my domain get hacked or stolen if I mention it?

No need to worry about that. But you can always "mask" the domains by sharing them like d/o/m/a/i/n/n/a/m/e/./c/o/m - this way search engines won't be able to index them.

As for your question, I also do not think it's necessary to share the domains. To answer your question, yes I think it can add value to a potential buyer to also be able to acquire the matching .net and .org but it all comes down to having a good .com to start with!

if the .com is worth only $400 USD
you waste money registering the .net and .org

the .com being worth 400.. i got that price from Estibot (I think that's the name). Personally I think it is worth thousands. For quite a while it ranked #1 on Google for it's keyword. That was years ago when I had it up as a live site. I stopped updating due to lack of time, and removed the site when I switched hosting plans.
So I am guessing I could list it for maybe...800 and see what happens... but as a newbie.. no idea!

Beauty comes from the eyes of beholder, likewise a good .com name is valuable to the end-user(s) regardless of the estibot's valuation. If the name is a good one, reach out to the end-users.

Don't fall in love with your domains. I agree with frank, no need to waste your money with other extensions if your .com estimated value is $400.

Good luck to you.

Hello Ken.

Given you already hold the .net and .org, I would keep them in hand while you are actively trying to sell your .com.

These advantages exist while you do so:
  1. The .net and .org remain unavailable to register; an entity that may otherwise 'settle' for a .net (or .org) is compelled to negotiate for your .com if they want the exact word/phrase you hold;
  2. The .net and .org may be used as a sweetener to help close a deal on the .com (frankly, I wouldn't even mention you owned the lesser extensions unless you ascertain a 'sweetener' is in order);
  3. If can't close a deal on the .com with a genuinely interested party, you may be able to do so on the .net
That said, even given the above, in all likelihood you are effectively 'losing' money each time you renew the .net and .org.

Hi
