A domain name is only worth what a person is prepared to pay for a domain name - but a domain name is worth exactly what a person is prepared to pay for a domain name and not a penny less

as much as certain websites try to the best of their ability to value domain names etc it is impossible for a domain name valuation website to be able to recognize how much a certain domain name means to a business owner who may want to buy a domain name to re brand their business or buy a certain domain as defensive cover for their existing domain so as to buy the .com etc not to use but to prevent another business from using it eg and in some cases defensive domain name buying could mean paying a lot of money but the money not being an issue and worth every penny to the business buying different extensions of thread same domain name etc something domain name valuation websites would find it impossible to include in their valuation of a domain name? just a thought

Just a thought, but what about adding some punctuation to make your point clear ?

that statement, is not true for all sales.

therefore, it's a fallacy.

imo...

good point but i don't bother with punctuation or capital letters etc well not most of the time

The Facebook domain for example was a good valuable domain in its own right but if any of us domain name investors were to have sold that domain back in the day we could never have known the vision that zuckerberg had for that domain name and what the website based on that domain name would go on to become eg one of the worlds most valuable websites and the worlds biggest website? but would it have been as big as it is without that domain name and what would zuckerberg have been prepared to pay for the domain name Facebook.com

there should be a film made about the domain name itself aside from the website from the first person to buy the domain from reg fee etc

but i get the idea that zuckerberg was going to buy Facebook.com domain name whatever the price

thats what they use to say

but think of it
today you get a $150 USD offer
tomorrow somebody may want to pay $1.5K USD

now what is the value of that domain?
did it change?

different people had different values of the same domain name but it is still worth what a person is prepared to pay because if a person isn't prepared to pay x amount for a domain name it may be worth that but its still a fictional value until it has been paid for and what ever it sells for is what its worth as it would not have sold unless the buyer and seller agree on a price on what a product eg domain is worth?

Allegedly he paid $200,000
but would love to know what he would have been prepared to pay had the previous owner not wanted to sell it for that price or refused to sell it at all?

I really honestly think thats BS

even if they agree on a price
the buyer may be an excellent negotiator
and the seller may be short on cash

the domain worth can be quite different

or do you think somebody would buy a domain
for its real value?

no he buys it because he thinks its a decent deal
