advice How to sell a domain with good authority for more?

Hi everyone!

I am a domain beginner, however I am in the online business for a few years now. I work as a freelance SEO and sometimes I need to find high authority domains for the purposes of link building. Sometimes I am finding very nice dropped domains, aged, with great inbound links and good names.

A few days ago I found such a domain - brandable name (in my opinion), live links from more than 260 different domains, it has been registered 6 years ago, clean link profile (no spammy links). This means that the new owner will have a domain with authority and his website will have an immediate boost in rankings.

My question is - how can I sell such a domain for more? As far as I see, most of the expensive domains are with short names, popular TLDs or the names are just catchy. Do buyers check the link profile of the domain they are buying? Because you can buy a domain with the perfect name, but if it is penalized from Google - what's the point, it would be useless.

I put that domain for sale on two different platforms, but so far there is no interest at all.

Welcome on the forum.

I make a difference between a site (having pages, links, traffic...) and a domain and I'm not sure NP is the best forum to discuss selling sites, especially PBN that are used primarily for seo. If your domain is 'good', it will sell as a 'domain' even without the links. Else, youv'e better chances on seo/PBN forums/marketplaces.

You should get familiar with namebio.com to get an idea of past transactions on domains (not sites, or very rarely).

I agree with you. The thing is that I am not selling a site in this case, just the domain. My question was whether people who buy domains look at the inbound links. As a SEO, I think that domains (not sites) with good links should be more valuable than domains without any links.

So what makes a domain valuable, just to have the right direction to search such ones?

Hey welcome. I see few people request for such domains every now and then. Usually with the intention of using them as supporting domains (redirects) rather than as the actual url.

Now if the domain name is crappy like word-word-word.biz , it can't actually be used as the main website url and won't fetch too much. Otherwise it may have some good value. Depends on the metrics and industry too.

The domain name is flicksbuzz.com - do you think it might be valuable? As I said, I bought it beacuse of the links, but I am not going to use it anyway. The name is not meaningless and is .com so I though it might be selled with some profit.

As a domain name it is not something I would reg. As for its metrics, it looks like it has some backlinks but 0 TF. You can park it and see if it gets any traffic.

Sorry, but I see very little value in the name itself (without the links). Would you like to have this name on your business card (I wouldn't)?

As far as links, up to about 1 month ago, I was regularly watching expdom.com (which seems to being closed). They were reporting PBN auctions, and they had a lot of domains with auctions at 10-20$ for a TF site of 10-20 and links from 300 different domains. I am not actively looking at PBN, so my perception may be a bit superficial. However, that's not encouraging.

Well, the name is not intended to be on a business card. It has been an entertaiment site for movies and cinema stars. Most of the links are as "image credit" like this one from excite.fr - postimg.org/image/3zlvyzxyf/

Who knows, maybe someone will like it in the next weeks or months

Just a clarification: if the name is not suitable to be on a business card, it means it has no intrinsic branding value. As a consequence, it will more likely interest seo experts who feel they can take advantage of the former links/reputation/whatever. I don't think these people will pay a good price.
