it depends how you look at this.
.Store word is usually associated with something bigger than shop. Bigger usually means that a company has more money to spend.
Of course there are words which go better with shop or store and countries where one of them is more popular. In Google "store" keyword is more popular - more searches and few times higher PPC.

I think that the .SHOP, could apply to online shoppers. The STORE to me feels like more of something you walk into,a brick & mortar,vs online shopping

All tech companies going with .store ... but I think both will be almost equal long term...but the good thing I do not think there is good third alternative

Unfortunately someone else won things like pottery, booze and a few others but that's ok, keeps my renewal cycle manageable.

From the point of pricing : renewal for .store seems now 14 USD or so (Ddot).
For .shop I saw at gandi.net for .shop it is now a promotion (25 $ without VAT). From january it's 45 USD, also for renewals for .shop.
The stupid thing with the new extentions is that most of them cost too much, and renewals also cost too much.
Only some new extentions are the exeption on, pricing.
AND the work nearly all with a lot of "Registry Premiums", for the best domains.with even renewals costing the SAME registry Premium domains. .

Lots of single words are put on hold by .shop registry. The once that was not included with their original premuim listing. These domain names are found by domainers, but .shop system will stop it from registering; not good.
