Virtual Reality Domains (VR)

NameSilo
Watch
Im betting big bucks on VR domains have a great future and with the big boys buying up VR companies, mainstream is a stones throw away.....

Lots of VR+keyword.com taken years ago and I noticed this sale a week or so back -

VRTechnology.com $3688

This was a steel and I can soon see everything from VRPoker / VRCasinos / VRShopping / VRBrowsing / VRTours / VRWorlds / etc etc....having a high price tag even now at the start of VR hitting mainstream...

I have just paid $x,xxx for a name but will not be showcasing as the domain is in escrow at present....

Feel free to showcase your VR domains If you like...

Cheers

10 years ? D-::'( hope that you are wrong :-D i think 2/3 years would be a better estimation
Domain sales will be earlier but overall consumer use will be 5+ years by what I've read over the past year. IMO 2-3 years we will see more VR/Virtual domain sales in the $x,xxx - $xx,xxx.

Currently VR sales are going for $xxx - $x,xxx and when you look up whois details current VR sales are mostly domain investors who are buying in this niche preparing for the next tech trend wave IMO

The good news is that it is coming and I've recently turned down offers from $x,xxx - low $xx,xxx :)

If I own any VR domain names now, I will flip them shortly. I get $300 by fliping one VR domain name last month.

Contacted via whois email direct (not spam) all of my VR LLLL.com very low $x,xxx with one very low $xx,xxx. I recieve offers on my VR LLLL.com one or twice a month, although I have noticed over the past two months its been quiter with VR offers.

1 x VR .net late $x,xxx and the other mid $x,xxx in gambling & gaming. These have all been domainers and not end users.

It was on one of my VR LLLL in my signature but cant disclose which one... It started at high $xxx and ended low $xx,xxx as they had an end user in mind. I mentioned I would consider selling in a few more years buts its too early to sell at present. I invest for the long term 5+ years.

I will sell a few VR domains next year but not my category killer VR domains unless its a great offer. This is a hobby for me so there is no urgency to sell :)

My Failed VR Domain Sales Pitch Story....

Yesterday I reached out to a VR company via phone, to pitch a name and while the end user thought it was "really great domain" he said that they wouldn't need it because their business is mainly an APPS company. I tried to reason with him because the particular domain I pitched wasn't app related in my opinion and it was the name of something specific that they provide. I also pitched him a few other reasons why his comp would need the domain. Still rejected the offer because he said they're an APP company. Part of me felt like he didn't know much about his own business....was a bit stubborn to say the least....

Lesson learned? Apps....be aware that *some* companies will not feel its particularly necessary to own a domain when most of their business comes from an app....which is a major issue considering that most VR applications won't be browser based, at least for a quite some time anyway!

Still pitching my name to other companies anyway, because it's not particularly an app based name....and even if it is, many companies would obviously want the name of their app on dot com for marketing purposes...

cheers!

I remember the typo domain whatsap.com at Sedo with 250k montly type-in traffic. Imagine what the traffic will be for the official WhatsApp domain.

Let the company's make great apps and when they are not interested in buying a app related vr domain... just harnest the traffic. You can make money, one way or the other.

When will we be able to visit a VR Casino?
http://www.vrcircle.com/post/when-will-we-be-able-to-visit-a-vr-casino

"And thankfully Lucky Nugget’s Canadian casino recently updated their blog with an interesting feature stating that we could see virtual reality gambling coming to our headsets very soon. The article speculates that it could introduce a much more immersive and interactive way to play these popular table games, and with VR developments continuing to limit latency, it looks like online casinos will be at the forefront of VR tech."

"one of the biggest names in virtual technology, Oculus, have already developed a multiplayer VR poker game for the Gear VR, although still in its infancy, suggests that the future of casino games could be virtual!"

VirtualReality.poker
VirtualRealityBets.com

Here are my few casino/poker names....

360vrPoker . com

VirtualityCasino . com

(dawtcom):

VRChitChat . com is mine and already had a couple of low ball offers on it :)

Excellent point, either way you're a winner. If a company releases an app, game or piece of software with a name you have in .com that's great news for you, even if they don't want to buy it off you.

Another example.

The story about bookings.com.

The parent company of booking.com first approached the owner of bookings.com for buying the domain but he declined the offer. They then went for booking.com. But when you type-in bookings.com you are redirected with a affiliate url to booking.com. He is making a insane amount of (passive and recurring) affiliate money and is still the owner of his premium domain.

Even if a vr app startup have interest in your domain but they don't want to pay enough just sit back and maybe you can make the same move like the owner of bookings.com did.

Just got off the phone with a start-up. They called in regards to a Keyword+VR name. I just wanted to say don't forget to put your phone number out there. Also, don't forget to throw out the Lease-to-Own option. They had no idea a domain can be placed in Escrow while they make monthly payments. I personally prefer this kind of sales option because if they default- you were getting paid and you keep your asset. Just a reminder. Good luck guys! :)

The lesson you should have learned from this is that you failed to have the marketing numbers to prove how the name would benefit him in a monetary way... The Bottom Line,
You were unprepared.

You might as well have been selling golf balls to a horse.
To 'SELL' is more than saying it's for sale and 'saying' it is a good deal.
You must be 'prepared' to follow through and prove the value to the potential buyer.
That is SELLING. Show him/her what they are missing and how they can profit.
How will it make or save them money or time to justify the price you want for it? a ROI for them.
Only rarely is it as easy as you think and then only when the buyer was looking for a name in the first place. Small start-ups do not have a marketing department, you must do it for them for the sale.

Domainer's seem to laugh when I talk about lease to own options.
I laugh all the way to the bank.
It is a way to make things come together.
The start-up is strapped for cash and would probably give you your price if they had it.
You get to make a early sale and get your price and sometimes a bit more.
If the buyers fails to live up to his end or goes under,
you still have a name to sell and the money you collected was just rent. WIN-WIN

Reread my post, take a deep breath and chill with the caps button. I never shared all the details about the entire call nor did I share details about our email exchanges, so I don't know where this negativity is coming from.

P.S. Instead of talking down, how about you share points in your sales routine VRdommy? Share the wealth! What particular numbers do you pitch about how a domain benefits a business?
