question Political domain - How to search for leads?

Hi,

I recently hand-regged a domain (MustResign.com) and I believe this has got potential in the political world.
I have tried reaching out almost all the major political parties in India, through twitter, their official website / email IDs and so on. But as of now, nobody seems to be interested.

Now with US Presidential elections just months away, how do I go about searching for suitors for this name?

Any thoughts will be really helpful.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
This is something you need to know before registering any names. In this business, if you have to ask who your end-users are, you probably haven't registered a decent name, try and research your potential buyers and then get the name.

I can see your idea for the name, but I'm not sure who would buy it off you, political parties for instance, would already have a site for their campaigns.

Hope that helps..

Hi Giles

TRUE THAT. THIS was an intentional reg targeting the political class. I have done my diligence and have already emailed top political parties on how this can be used.

Looks like I might be missing something. So checking for opinions here...

No problem, I guess its tough because political parties usually just have a site for their party name and thats it. I think you might find the name is to broad.

What about a site aimed at people who are not happy in their jobs or particular industries and need some incentive/reasons/ideas to move onto something else....a forum of some kind...just thinking of other ideas if I couldn't sell it

The name is too broad IMO, the best hope for making money with this domain is to become the end user yourself. I can't really see any political party being interested in this domain in the United States, I know nothing about Indian politics so I am not qualified to comment there.

If I am a political party or candidate, I don't want MustResign.com, If I am going to go that route I want ObamaMustResign.com (No sitting President shy of a scandal that Nixon faced is going to resign) or HillaryMustResign.com. The name needs to have who the buyers wants to target, this name is an almost there but not quite there. You always have the chance for an outlier sale but you could also win the lottery.

Again IMO

What you are saying is true. This was intentionally regged as a broad match. Imagine, an opposition party can always create subdomains, like Obama.mustresign.com and then create hillary.mustresign.com and so on...

Infact I had reached out to news outlets as well, presenting this use case. yet to hear from them...
Maybe like you mentioned, I will have to turn into an end user... Let's see how this works out...

I did think of the sub domain angle and that might be a possibility, but subdomains don't look as great when advertising them, some are reluctant to do that.

Best of luck
