tips Forward your domain to the potential buyers website.

Simple Tip:

Some potential buyers and especially smaller business owners don't realize that they can have multiple domains all pointed to their website. Mention in your email that the name is pointed toward their website and it may help seal the deal. It has helped for me many times.

If I have more than one potential buyer I will forward the name to each buyer for a maximum of 72 hours. This gives them time to see your email and let them salivate over the name while it's pointed to their website.

It may not seem like much but I do believe it helps create a trust factor between you and the buyer because they know you are actually selling what you say you are selling.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
i'm gonna try this with linkedin profiles for a domain that i'm just trying to sell :)

I've been thinking about this in the past and always wondering if it would be a good idea?
Thanks for the tip !

Can you give an example of the email format that include pointing to enduser site? Lets see how to construct it. Thanks

Great idea it's like car sales they let you test drive it for a reason because you will want it more.

I will forward the domain to the buyer website.
Buyer - "Thank you!" :)
That's all.

It's best to get their permission before you do it.

You're not forwarding a porn name. Why would they have an issue with a useful name forwarded to their site?

I've had people get very upset about it and even threaten legal action, even when someone else in their company was paying me to forward the domain. Surely you don't think the world is a simple place. People are not always logical or even rational. : )

If the domain gets any significant traffic, it could be confusing to people who happen to type it in and are taken to a legitimate / decent site. If they try the next day and it doesn't work, they might start to think the site they had landed on is not reliable or something.

Interesting idea, but I'd strongly advise that you ensure the domain has a clean backlink profile.

@hookbox is there any negative impact of pointing multiple domains to a particular website? The idea you have suggested is worth trying, but before that I think I must make sure that this approach (pointing multiple domains to a website) doesn't adversely impact the prospective end-user.

This is what I do and it's up to you and other members here to make your own decision. It's a simple tip and nothing more. Proceed at your own risk.

There is if they have a spammy backlink profile, it may not do instant harm but once big G roll out an update on their algo they could incur a penalty which would affect their ranking. Legally speaking, this could potentially put you in a world of hurt. Google have talked about live algo changes, so in the future it could do instant harm.

Other than that there's no risk to the best of my knowledge. Loads of big companies and corporations forward multiple domains, think of typos, type in traffic on exact match relating to their products/services etc.

Forwarding is basically a 301 redirect which tells Google x domain is now at y domain, y being the domain it's pointing to.

That's a nice twist. :)

I've always "mentioned" that purchasing EMD domains of a company's product is a good idea for a company and then give them a scenario where the domain is pointed to a competitor or even worse "Content". wink wink.;)

I think this could work better if the domain we redirect have some type in traffic or expired. Btw I would redirect it after talk with the owner or after had an agreement with someone in the company so they can better see some improvement.

I think this would be great for Flippa domains since most domains on there are looking for domains to develop anyways. point a product or service domain to a big name business. to give the potential buyer an "idea" what this domain could BE.

or even better. see if you can be an affiliate of such a big company.

kill two birds with one stone.

now you have a marketing tool to sell your domain
plus
making money via the affiliate redirect by your domain.
