James Booth sold $5 million in domain names within six months of opening his brokerage firm.

James Booth had a bit of an “in” when he got into the domain name business. His brother Andy Booth is a very successful domain name investor. Still, James’ early success brokering domains has been phenomenal: about $5 million in domains in the past six months. Based in the Philippines, he’s had lots of success selling to the Chinese. On today’s program he discusses what’s happened to the value of two and three letter domains and where he thinks the market is headed. He also tells the scary story of almost buying a stolen domain name, and we discuss some of the due diligence you should do before buying a domain name.

I wonder if that "like" by James Booth on the Adam Dicker Facebook page is the same James Booth we're talking about in this thread. Just wondering.

I thought you had to "friend" someone on Facebook in order to "like" them, but I'm not at all involved with Facebook, so I really don't know for sure.

No you don't have to 'friend' someone or like someone's page to like their post.

Wonder how much he started out with investing. Did he invested millions or thousands to get started?

For what I've read he broker domains for customers mainly so he didn't need a big sum for start.
Btw to have a brother that can provide you names like strawberry.com for brokering it is sure a great Starting point also ;)

So basically the family was smart enough to use the resources provided through each other. Sounds like a great way to get things going for everyone involved really.

I think its very normal if he succes because of his brother! just like bill gates, because if waren't of his mom I am not sure he will become the richest ppl on earth! even for a website, if the link is not good, you'll not get first page! :D lol

I know it's easy for us to assume that his success is solely due to him having a big "in" with regards to his brother already being heavily in the game. It's important to remember that not everyone that's presented with an opportunity is able to turn it into a huge success. So as much as he was given a really great opportunity, I do not believe that alone was responsible for him doing $5million worth of sales within 6 months. IMO it was opportunity coupled with his skills and knowledge that led to his success. Kudos to him I'd say...
