LMAO, Only at GD! On of of the calls I had trying to deal with GD with the site gone issue they tried to talk to me about buying the DDC while they were waiting for someone. I told them I will talk about other purchases AFTER they find and return my site to me. I kind of got a dead silence for a minute! ;)

Never pass up an opportunity to sell more stuff -lol!

I ended up running my own scans, but really - hosting support should be doing that, not their marketing agency. AND the exploit edited their htaccess. Pretty sure it was done via a plugin, but wouldn't they maybe want to make sure it wasn't a server level issue?

I still have a couple of old EIG accounts, but I don't need support and I'm ready to run elsewhere at a moments notice.

Yes, I had to "run" from them when they tried to extort me for $1000's to get/keep my websites and data a couple years ago! Run Enly, Run! ;)

How the hell did they justify that???!!!
Everything for the sites I have on those accounts is stored locally - most of them are test sites, no UGC, no databases. I could literally be up and running on another host in minutes. The only thing I'd lose would be the server logs. Pfft.

Well, $90 per site X many sites!

Their supposed malware scanner (sitelock) detected what they called malware on all of my sites and the only way they would give me my sites and data back was to pay the $90 per site to have the so-called malware removed by their malware remover, ALSO sitelock by coincidence.

After looking at their scan logs there was no malware, just a theoretical backdoor possibility in a certain WordPress plugin that I was using on all my sites. There was NO MALWARE, just a theoretical backdoor which was BS.

I told them I can go in and remove the plugin from the file manager and then problem solved and they told me they can't do that. I dealt with every idiot they had on up the ladder for days to no avail.

I had to rebuild my sites from scratch. I had all the pages, posts and content but no full backups (lesson learned). I even filed a complaint with the BBB but they replied and kept making excuses. They didn't care because they have hundreds of BBB complaints, so what's 1 or a hundred more. There are always more suckers in the sea!

So I consider it a lesson learned in dealing with EIG and their worst in the business customer care, service and support. True scam artists.

With hundreds of web hosting companies offering all kinds of hosting plans, it has become challenging to find balance between price, features, performance and support. On this page you will find a selection of well rounded hosts we recommend for hosting b2evolution as well as any other web site including blogs, forums, galleries, CMS pages as well as e-commerce/shopping carts built with PHP + MySQL.

sad to see mostly very unprofessional advice for hosting, godaddy and hostgator, says it all. Please research before you recommend such terrible hosting services that have thousands of customers been screwed. Godaddy on the other hand does domain names well but be very careful using a register for hosting. hostgatoer, well just google or bing it and should see many warning signs. I was one of their earlier casualties about 7 years ago before the rest of the world woke up. It certainly does not give the deserved credibility to this forum too see such bad advice posted here.

I've used this free web hosting service freehosting.x10host.com/ for close to 2 months now since end of May 2017, and everything is running very smoothly, server uptime is good, and loading speed is also very impressive for a free web hosting. They have the Cloubflare CDN enabled, so that helps to speed up the server serving pages with remarkable speed. I test with 5.9MB in one page and it fully loads less than 5 seconds.

Definitely its affordable because its free, but they limit to 2 Addon domains and 2 Sub-domains in the free pakage, but hey, you can signup with more than 1 account to host more Domains and Sub-Domains.

Give it a try freehosting.x10host.com/ and comback to share your experience with us.

What kind of "hosting" do you need? private server or shared? I suppose you're talking about cheap hosting (shared hosting) with good speed and uptime, I checked tens of them and FAR the best is iPage. GoDaddy is soooo overrated, GD's support kinda suck (if you want to solve a problem fast you HAVE to call them because livechat is most of the time busy or offline), speed and uptime is fine though, but for that price isn't worth (for 3-4 months at GD you can buy 1 year hosting at iPage and get better support).
The only problem I have with iPage is their security, someone logged into my iPage account and my website went down for about 5 days, but here's the awesome part: my hosting plan had no backup plan included, but their support was still nice enough and restored my website within next 48h, fortunately it was just a small website. This was the only issue I had with them in like 3 years of usage (this happened about 2-3 months ago).

There are many good providers in the hosting industry, so you can check TWHDIR directory. You can choose from 100+ web hosting providers and nearly 900 plans listed on the directory. Guess what? there are plans starting for less than $0.20/month. You can even check out reviews from real users before selecting any hosting provider.

Actually, Godaddy and the rest of the big brands are total garbage. Ther are expensive and slow. Believe me I tried most of them. (Only Namecheap was somewhat good)
I find that small to mid-sized hosting businesses are the best as their servers aren't as overpopulated and they have more time for each customer.

There is not a best one, but the most suitable one. Hostings can be broken down into two categories:
- managed hosting
Pros:
the hosts take care of everthing
Cons:
steep price but shared resources
- unmanaged hosting
Cons: you're all on your own for everything
Pros: cheap price and dadicated server resources

Tips: for both kinds of hosting, choose the well-reputed and widely-used providers is always a wise decision.

Very vague wording of the question. If we put it, we must provide a list of compared. Or the list of criteria by which it is necessary to evaluate. Personally, I even have a judgment about the best hosting change once a year at least

I'm a fan of the web hosting over at Siteground. Their Wordpress hosting is top notch, although you will pay for it once the first year promotional period ends. With that said, their Wordpress hosting is indeed tweaked well for Wordpress and we were very satisfied with performance. Another great host is WPEngine, but I would not put either of these providers into a true budget category.

I've helped a couple clients escape the SiteLock service. I'm not really a fan. It's not that I think they're out to scam, but the control panel was quite buggy and one guy in particular had nothing but complaints on several websites.

I have some developer friends that love Godaddy. I've never used their hosting, but the two components of their hosting that stick out in talking to others is good speed but trouble with resources and often support. Having worked for multiple web hosting providers in past lives, it can be difficult to scale up and maintain good techs. Fundamentally, they run into the same problem as everyone else when it comes to scale: turnover and costs.

Vultr is OK but have your own backup. They have lost one of my servers and lost lot of data.

I'd say go watch some Youtube videos where reviewers have actually tested the top web hosting companies for 2021 using the exact same website for testing each one if you want the honest answer as that is the only way you will get it straight.

To "recommend" a web host to you solely because it is used by the person who recommended it doesn't make it the fastest or the best. It just means it satisfies their needs however their needs and standards for what is fast or "best" might be a little different than yours.
