Hello, so I got an email from Neilson Group today - Inquiring about one of my keyword domains. I mean they basicly control anything you watch on tv, and this seems like a domain which will be a category killer.

Only issue was I was in class and asked for an offer. The man responded a few times and then but a very low xxx range. Do I take the money and run, or do I send somthing crazy back? They made i think 6billion profit last year, am I going to lose the sale if I try to counter?

Or maybe I should speak to a broker?

What do you guys think?

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
In my humble opinions, if the name is highly related to Neilson and they are the only potential end user I would suggest you accept the offer and run. However, if you think the name can attract some other end users besides Neilson, you should atleast counter with mid xxx.

Well it is not related to neilson it's related to live stream events.

I don't want to be the fool that misses out on somthing they are willing to spend a lot more on. However I don't want to be greedy and lose it. Who knew this could get so stressful

if its live stream related then I would definitely counter with a high xxx or low xxxx.

Hard question to answer without knowing the domain. If it can be used by someone other than them then shoot back a price you're wanting.

If it has to do with "dance" then do not let it go cheap.

"Very low xxx", cheap multi-billion dollar corporation. As others said, not knowing the domain makes it hard to give you advice, but very low xxx could be even $100. Not good... If you do not need $100 or $200, of course you should not take it. Even if the domain is not premium, but barely decent, a mid $X,XXX is what I would ask for or even higher in this case.

I would remain polite and professional at all times and my counter offer would always leave room for negotiations.

P.S. - Are you sure it is from Nielsen? Is it coming from an official email address? Just asking...

Offer through email but it has neilson in his title, but you would have to be crazy to put a billion dollar Corp as your job title I don't see how it would possibly help him.

But, again, is the email an official email address, as [email protected] (just and example and not a specific email address)?

The title means nothing. I receive emails every week from guys telling me they are CEOs and they are not...

The only reason they would want a domain is to have a survey on it. If you have Billions in your head you wont get a sale. They do two things. Record what people watch, and record what they buy. They dont need a domain for traffic, they make their own traffic. Good luck

I unable to understand the purpose this kind of threads on Namepros and experts who are giving their valuable advice.

How can you share advice without even knowing the domain name.

$xxx offer? That's just a feeler to get things started. You need to counter back.

$10,000

Ask $25,000 and see what happens. Might as well go for it.

How many words is it? Is it generic? I think that's a starting point for determining worth.

I sent back 2k well see if they respond, or if they are even real, because as someone pointed out and I checked its a gmail not their company email. I really hope not =/...

Majority of inbound inquiries use gmail.

At least it's very common.

Provide them BIN sale link.

Without knowing that the domain name is it's a difficult one to call....

Only tip I could provide is that when dealing with an end user and not a domainer, Estibot can help you IF it pulls up a decent estimate price. Obviously when selling to another domainer Estibot prices won't make a difference but to an end user you could use it as a way to attract a better offer from them.

If you invest in the right domains you never should be afraid in losing a deal IMHO.
