There are so many threads at Namepros that have brandable tips and tools here and there that I figured it would be best to put them all in one spot. If you remember listing a great tip or tool in any other thread then please list it here also if you think it fits the Brandable topic.

List your favorite tools that work well for helping you find great brandables. Drop catchers, drop software, etc….

If you like to handreg brandable names then list your favorite tips or tools that help in that process. Name generators, syllable separators, prefix/suffix lists etc….

Do you have any articles about Naming that you have come across on the web. List it here.

Have you come across a great video about Naming. List it here.

Have you seen a great name on the street and don't know where to make a comment about. Do it here.

This thread is All About Brandables so if you are passionate about the subject then you now have a place to speak freely.

@hookbox - great idea for a thread!

I'll be back with more, but for now, here's a video featuring 105 startups from TechCrunch Disrupt 2015.

Notice the domains being used by start ups B-)

The Name Inspector is one of my favorite naming bloggers. He named the billion dollar startup Zulily and many other great companies. Chris is a true linguist. Enjoy!

Thanks again for sharing! I've never heard of The Name Inspector until now.

I believe naming can be reborn and / or rebranded through nicknames / avatars / hashtags. I also believe great naming comes naturally such as a parent at birth and / or adoption. I say at birth because my parents named me Christopher, too. B-)

I wonder how much can be learned about branding / naming just from studying ancestral naming data. I use NameBerry.com and SSA.gov to gain more insight on first name domain purchases / valuations.

You could probably learn a lot from studying ancestry names. I believe studying names that originate in other countries would be more targeted toward brandables. American names are very cut and dry and somewhat bland but Latin, Italian, etc....have a certain flair to them that are great beginning sounds for brandables. Here is a quick list below of some international names.

I was very curious why they would choose such an odd name and here is why. I love how they tie the letter Z into everything. I bet people in that town have fun conversations pronouncing everything with letter Z which indirectly promotes the brand.

http://zorbaz.com/about-uz/

name based off the classic movie Zorba the Greek

Ohhh yeah, you betcha! I talked about the catchy Z phraZe'z from their billboards for months before I went there and had a good time.

Minnesota / North Dakota converZations are alwayZ a good time. Really, I think we can learn a lot about branding through the studying of word origins / accents.

At different times throughout conversations here at Namepros numerous terms are used to identify a name as a certain type. Alliteration, Acronym, Blending, etc...... Below is a very good glossary from Catchword Branding to help understand what each term means. They specialize in naming companies and products and have named many companies including Vudu, Crazy 8 and more..
