information Breaking: BY.com Sold to Chinese Buyer

Spaceship Spaceship
The two-letter .COM domain name BY.com has just moved to a Chinese registrant after being sold by a Norweigan company this week. The news of this transfer was broken by Jamie Zoch of DotWeekly on his Twitter page.

BY.com was put into the NamesCon 2016 auction by its owner, but failed to sell after attracting a six-figure bid. This is likely to be a seven-figure sale, but no details have been released as yet.

In December 2015, Mike Berkens of TheDomains.com interviewed the then owner of BY.com, André, who explained that the domain had been under his ownership since 1996 after he acquired it for around $5,000.

The domain has a rich history and has been used by André and his company to provide many services over the years, including a partnership with Cisco to turn Cisco.com into a mobile friendly site.

I have asked André to comment on this sale, so this article will be updated if and when I have more news.

Congratulations to both buyer and seller.

When most of Chinese companies understand the importance of domain names.....when their global aspirations soar, domain market will see surprising sales.

Waiting for those wonderful times......I knew what these Chinese did to commodities market.
