can someone confirm if serverTransferProhibited is what it's supposed to say in whois when I begin and authorize a transfer between registrars? or is this some error code referring to a registry locked domain that needs to be resolved with registry and this transfer will fail?

I began this transfer today, and whois didn't show problems with domain before transfer.

I'm essentially transfering from dynadot to godaddy.. so the whois alrady seems to show godaddy on there as registrar... not the previous dynadot... if someone can take a look at this and say if looks okay then I'd appreciate. I am not too familir with pending transfer codes. ty!

You are correct. serverTransferProhibited can only be lifted and overrided by the TLD registry. But your registrar can contact the registry to find out why that status is set on your domain. This can happen to domains freshly registered within the first 60 days also.

thanks. this domain was in okay status before transfer was started. so I am not sure if a status can change from okay to registry locked on domain which was okay before transfer.

In that case, then I think you really should first contact the registrar where the domain is residing at and find out what is happening.
