Ar will be bigger than Vr, look it up!
It's not what you know, it's what the masses know. AR as it pertains to domains and branding isn't going to happen.

Virtual reality isn't even going to really hit the masses for a decade, or more, or never. The dollar amount of a specific niche industry doesn't equate to domains sold in that niche. It's an educated gamble at best for these types of investments. 99% of domains in this thread and similar threads are flushed money.

Careful kids!

Ask people that don't buy domains or don't work in the tech industry what AR is. They will have no clue.

Again, this isn't what NP members and industry insiders know, it's about the world knowing. Right now, they don't care.

What is AR?
Bet the majority of people in any give mall in the usa would not have an answer.
What is VR?
More would know this, probably not much, but enough.

Now in both, if you asked what is Augmented Reality vs Virtual Reality?
You better believe you will find a lot of people who know the second one!

But you go on with AR.
Keep in mind, this is a VR thread.
AR has it's own thread.
SO go there and push AR, not here.

Most people could give an educated answer if you asked them what virtual reality is. Less than 10% would have a clue about what augmented reality is.

To the mods that deleted the AR vs VR posts...

This type of conversation is essential. It is directly related to why virtual reality is or isn't at the forefront of the masses. Unless this is strictly a showcase thread, let us enjoy on topic chatter!

This post has been moved to the dedicated AR Vs. VR thread along with other posts debating the two niches so that everyone may continue debating.

Hope that helps,

@Eric Lyon well, if so then You should make it a AR/VR/MR.

Soon everyone will know about this one.

What about just "R"? WTF happened to that?

The technology already exists for AR it's just a matter of rolling out applications commercially.

True VR is light years away but early attempts like the boxes on people's heads will be branded VR until something better comes along.

Virtual worlds like 'Second Life' has 1 million regular users and has being around since 2003. It gets built by its own users, has its own currency and big business gets involved.

Two schools of thought here:
1. Says since I do not own any AR domains, that AR will be huge!
2. Says since I do own VR domains, that VR will be huge!

Lots of good AR names available, compared to VR.

It's not a bad idea to hedge your investments, even if you do think VR will come out on top. ;)

Yeah not the best, but there's less eyes on the AR names. If you watch drops/expired names, you can find a few gems. :)

Yea , i stopped that.
Got a hunch AR is dying..
The term i mean.

Got to follow my instincts (and have about 5 names)

Same. I still picked up "AR/N/e/r/d(s)/com" though. I think it was fairly miraculous to be able to find those, so late in the game.

IMO, if anything is going to take over AR/VR/MR as a keyword, it would be "Immersive".

:)

Got ARaddict a while ago.

Immersive is good but not for that imo.

And im not sure its so important to have one term.

Some can work together you know.

ar can be applied to existing tech to enhance it obviously
vr is a virtual tech that's creating a fake reality obviously

ar is less $ to apply than vr

augmented is a poorly created/used term imo possibly will be renamed by some virtual nerdkinder in time no doubt

but big $ is being spent on ar and predicted to be bigger than vr

not my words just passing along data

regged this tho just to have in hand;

Why do you think microsoft and magic leap rephrased their tech to MR?

AR as a term is not gonna make it.
