Ok this is mostly for myself to hold myself publicly accountable. I had this idea a month ago and never posted so I am doing it now fast and done

I know steps I need to take and am not doing so here's my list

1) Set up a better contact system for all current domains for sale, maybe ticket system
2) Stop buying, Start selling : smile : Stop buying. Seriously. Use greasemonkey to block the marketplace URLs and take a break from using DC. If I don't know what names are expiring I won't know what I missed. I have a handful of backorders and current auctions I will allow to finish.
3) Connect with current end users, I bought a few names with people I know in mind, get on it.
4) Let go of the old baggage. I have names I bought for projects I never finished and they are exhausting mentally to think about unfulfilled potential. List them for sale and if they don't sell by one month before expiry give them away here

In addition, today I did my Elliptical, unrelated to domains yet if I post it here I will have to continue. From Oct to January I had an unbroken streak of 100 days in a row, then had an injury, and then I just waffled and didn't commit to consistency again. My original rule was I could miss ONE day but not two days in a row, or I could do a low effort day if needed for health reasons.

The blocker is an extension, not a script, I have to remember how to use it and figure out how to configure to block the marketplaces, but still allow me to get to my domain accounts

Ok today I did Elliptical, from now on to save time I will post it like

I hit a glitch in my hosting, I am very particular about how I set up hosting, I have names I buy on purpose as ROOT is what I call them which are short and simple and easy to type so when I use it as a custom nameserver it makes it easy, Also it has to be a name I will not sell, I've had to switch the root before and it's a PITA. I get reseller hosting then I set up my own "mini hosting" package for each domain

This is getting tedious since I have over 300 domains now. I think I want to tweak what @-EM- is doing in this thread

So I have to decide a root domain, and I have to verify that how I want to tweak the NS idea will work and not create more work later.

I may chose to buy a new domain with the dotster sale for 5 years to use as root, sadly I already have a few I like that would have worked.

I might be better off just for now having a simple text page of all my domains and make it pretty later, right now if I have a sales page it shows only that domain so I am wasting potential exposure to more names to buyers

adding transfer 5 domains to rebel - 5/5 so I don't miss the sale this time

I do have to go through my stuff.
I set some targets in my intro; Had to sell 4 decent value domains this year, move abroad and finish some sites.
I sold my first decent domain a few Saturdays back, moving abroad in aug and hope to have a site for domains live soon too.

Just saw a post from @alcy about bodis, that would be better than nothing for right now, still want to use my fancy ns idea that will be a bit of effort to change all my nameservers but it should work so I never have to change them again

Was waiting for dotster sale, chat lied to me, I should just use one I have. OK so I bought domrr/com which I thought was cool and short with this idea in mind, I was unaware of domr/com, if I am just using it as my placeholder ns forwarder, I would have no issue with trademark, correct? I could also make it forward somewhere else if anyone gets clever and just types it in to a default page wtih a different name.

yes to each his own of course.. to me and many others bodis sale landers+their super highend visitor stats+fast friendly user interface+ability to switch between parking/sale lander/any url u want with just 2 clicks all in one place without goign through each registrar... is way beyond "better than nothing". but like I said before, it's whatever works for whoever. as long as you are happy with the way yoru domains redirect.. that's what we're all after.

I wish I had posted in an area where you could edit cuz trying to keep my deadlines straight in my own posts is messy, I have a slick reminder calendar I use so maybe I just keep that current and forget about putting actual dates here.

I didn't get enough done today, I piffled time, but I also think I took on too much I didn't account for household stuff as well. In fact I must grocery now how thrilling.

I have bodis set up we'll see if my trick takes or not, I tried one straight to bodis so that's a good test. I am not certain my name server trick is going to work, it may take 48 hrs to propagate.

ell 5/7 - I woke up earlier than needed/wanted and made myself exercise anyway, I would have bailed if not for this thread : smile :

bodis with the trick - not working, I asked for help in -EM-s thread
rebel transfers - started & already accepted, now just 5 day wait

My marketplace blocker is good, however, sometimes I am looking at auctions of other members for support, not to buy, so then I have to toggle my blocker off, there is a time limit feature, I am hoping that will work, so I can toggle ON for 10 minutes, then it will revert, right now if I do it manually, I forget to toggle OFF again

My buying restriction is good, I got some fun xyz for 44 cents, finished up the auctions I was watching, a couple went way higher than I would have been willing to pay, and that always makes me happy.

I am still doing my usual routine to check the drops, just not running DC, very interesting, now I can actually see if the name is caught, and I can build a list of maybes for the next time there's a good dotster sale

OK I have to choose a root domain, and I don't want to have to change it later. That decision is holding up my hosting switch, especially if I am going to use the NS trick, which thanks to @-EM- I figured out what I was doing wrong. Then my twist for name servers, I am assigning to each domain, not in groups, so it will be ns1fishpastenet.d/o/m/r/r/dot/com and I can change all from the cloudflare panel

Opinions on d/o/m/r/r/dot/com? As a root domain, I think I am fine but if I used it as my personal domain marketplace? Conflict with d o m r dot com?

Organizing and updating my portfolio spreadsheet, I am going to have to recheck one by one each registrar, I think I have 33? 34? now. I just did the transfer deal at rebel and already don't like their UI - I got stuck in some profile nightmare they had nine and I couldn't delete and just make one default

Better plan is just list what I have and improve later, if only half of my domains are listed that is better than what I have now

I didn't buy a domain today, hooray! I almost said that yesterday but I picked up a cheap fun xyz : giggle :

The marketplace blocker is working well, I am testing having a limit of 15 minutes every 12 hours, I hope then I won't have to disable it sometimes. The good thing is it makes me THINK using it, so I am fully aware that I really do not need any of those domains and maybe if a really good one shows up, that will be OK so it is helping me be more ruthless.

I very much like Netfirms, I had a name on the drop today I was lukewarm about, so I didn't want to set up DC for it which costs me $9-15 depending on who catches (I have 4 APIs) and I decided if it dropped I would get it by hand for $4/2 years. BTW, I got it : grin :

It makes much more sense to me to save DC for better names and everything else goes on the standby list.
