question What is your best domaining story?

I have many, some that happened while buying names and some while selling.

Several years ago I get an email asking me if a name is for sale, I reply yes and say the price is $4,000

A week later, same person emails again and asks, "is the domain still for sale?"

I reply yes.

He now emails me every few days asking if it's still for sale. In some emails he is telling me I am not realistic with my price, but he is very hostile and is kinda making fun of me. I didn't take it personal I just found it very weired. I started feeling that maybe someone I know is pranking me or something of that kind.

After a while (months) I replied sorry the domain has been sold. I changed the whois to privacy and took down the simple HTML page that said domain for sale with my email. I could have just blocked his email, however a side of me was curious where this is going.

He replies and asks me something in the lines of "how much did it sell for", I replied 2500 bucks, I really forgot already what I quoted him, I do tend to just come up with prices as I see fit and at this point I didn't care to even look up any of my prior communications with him.

All of a sudden I get an email at my whois privacy (different email) from this guy, he states he knows I (thinking hes talking to new owner) recently purchased the name and if I would be interested in selling it for a quick profit. I reply if he makes an aggressive offer maybe or else I will move to develop the site.

At this point I am still suspicious that someone is trolling me bad, but I am going with the flow.

He replies and offers me $2800. I turn it down, I tell him that is only a bit more than I paid and I rather go forward with my business plan. At this point I really feel whatever game someone is playing with me, it is about to come to an end.

We go back and forth and settle for $3400, he sends me a bank check(never had anyone pay with that), I do the verification and wait a bit, he agrees and it all checks out ok. He has no clue what just took place.

A bit after transferring the name he emails me (the real me lol) from his new domain asking me "guess who as****e?" He thinks I will assume it is the guy (made up guy) who paid $2500 for the name emailing me. I replied back, "why the anger? 100 bucks for the name was very fair, if you are not happy with the purchase I will buy it back for $110".

I never heard from him since.

The domain expires in May, if it drops ill try to catch it lol doubt it will drop, but if it does I have an email I would like to send him.

i actually sold a domain a few days ago while i was staring at it wondering what i was going to do with it.

it was a 1 word (ugly scientific word) dot com pending delete which i'd bought maybe 3 weeks ago.

so i'm staring at the name in my account both wondering why i'd bought it initially as well as looking for inspiration as to what to do with it when my email alert popped up, someone had paid the BIN at sedo and that was that.

My best domaining story is, that I got the highest possible amount of 'top' (21 times) at the left side of the dot from the .top TLD.
This story is still running at this time and I am very curious how it will go on.
It's really a big mystic adventure.

After 2 months, I sold the singular *******Card.com for $22,000 to an end user who contacted me first.
One year later, I noticed the domain name isn't in very active use since the buyer acquired it. I contacted the buyer, knowing he's no longer need it and would like to sell it for a loss.
I negotiated a deal and bought it back for $10,000

Then I sold it again for $62,800 in 2014 to the .co.uk owner.
I still own the plural *******Cards.com now.

I had a two-word name I acquired through Pheenix backorder. I had bought the name because it was short are visually appealing, a kind of two-word brandable with no substantial search volume and with no particular reference to service or product.

I owned the name for over six months and nothing happened. I had not received any offers and the name was rejected for listing on several market places, including SEDO (monthly auction).

Being kind of impatient (which is a flaw I am working on), I listed the name here on NamePros Make Offer. I got a $200 offer via PM soon after listing it. I attempted to get a higher amount but failed and finally sold the name for $200. I pushed the name to the buyer and the story was supposed to end there.

However, about a week later, someone who thought I still owned the name sent me a $1000 offer. I did not respond to the offer and attempted to buy the domain back for $300. The buyer said he was not interested in selling. I thanked him for the response and moved on.

Some days after my offer, the buyer contacts me and says he would be willing to give me the name back for $300. I bought my name back and immediately contacted the person who had offered $1000. This individual totally ignored my emails.

About two weeks later I received an inquiry and I responded with a $5000 quote. I tracked the email and it was someone from a company in the UK. We negotiated and settled for $2500, but the potential buyer never started the Escrow transaction as agreed. He kept sending me emails stating he was going to buy it, but we finally lost contact.

About one month later, I received another inquiry from a gentleman in California. He offered $100 for the domain. I responded with my $5000 quote and he offered $1000. I explained I had received higher offers and asked him that, given my $5000 price, what was the maximum he would offer so I can see if we were going to reach an agreement. He set $4000 as his final offer. I accepted and he paid soon after through Escrow.

Good thing it all worked out .From $200 to $300 to $2500 and then $4000.Money just kept floating in the air and I was wondering what amount it would be sold for.Patience is a virtue in this business.

Co Brokering a deal years back to Bankrate. After that deal knew domains was going be my passion. Figured out the ceo email address. He replied to me on a weekend morning. Now full time and going on my 4 year anniversary.

How many businesses can you show that couple hours of work on a deal and generates you 5 figures ?

For my personal holdings can reflect a few but boils down to my forex.tv sale. Caught it and had it sold 8 days latter for some cash.

Ups and downs. Crazy fucking bizz this is.

featuring a singer called MNDR. In somewhat of a coincidence, a week or so after the song was released, I got the opportunity to buy mndr.com, mndr.net and mndr.org from the other domain forum; around a week later, I ended up selling all three names to the singer.

Late in 2015, my domain, Cannabis.... (.com) was already in redemption period at GoDaddy (and was to be dropped). Out of the blue, I received an offer of US$5... (yes, Five US Dollars) from an end-user via Flippa listing. I countered with US$475. After a couple of mails, a concrete deal was struck. I quickly visited GD and paid about US$90 for redemption and renewal. The domain was sold right away for... US$475!
