The Heights, Houston Zoo, The art district of downtown, and some may say Galveston but to me it's just some nasty brown water. ;)

I hate the zoo!!! I see them every day in every forums so there is no need to see the zoo :laugh::laugh:
I am not limited to just Houston. Austin, San Antonio and surrounding areas are ok too.

Where do I start? SCH should be seen on the way to spend a day in Galveston. The beach, the Strand, Pleasure Pier, Railroad Museum and definitely a meal at Gaidos (can't miss it with the huge crab on the roof) are all great things to do on the island.

The Zoo,Natural History Museum and Hermann Park are all close together and each one a blast. Stop by Glazed donuts on the way ( open 24 hrs and amazing) and enjoy a bacon donut for me.

The Beer Can house, Art Car Museum and Funeral Museum are all unique and interesting destination stops.

Raised in this beautiful city so just ask and I should have an answer :)

Unless Gaidos has got a new cook?
It was horrible back in the late 90's and early 2000's.

Galleria....
Gallery Furniture! Must stop just to see the madness there.
Kemah Boardwalk....
Sam Houston Race Park.
Minute Maid Park.
NRG Stadium.
Now you all got me missing Houston!
Going on road trip to Spring to visit son and his family.

@johnn - It's too bad you won't be in Houston late April. There's a small event happening on April 28th. More info here: http://www.dnhouston.com/

The wife and I would love to meet up with you for coffee or something while you're here in May. Feel free to shoot me a private message and I'll give you my mobile number so we can get something scheduled later when you have a better idea of your availability while in Houston.

I bet @Angela St. Julien might even be interested in meeting up. Heck, we might even be able to all meet up together if our schedules permit it. ;)

If you go to Austin you must hit Barton Springs, Hamilton pool, relax at Zilker Park and watch the bats come out from under the bridge at dusk downtown.

SA has beautiful Japanese Gardens, the Alamo and you can spend a full day on the river walk or at Fiesta Texas.

Will do.

I work for the school so I can only go when the semester ended. May, August and December/January.

You should visit the airport and have it take you somewhere else.. like New Orleans

You can get a round trip for $100 and you won't have to worry about finding things to do in Houston.

The Kemah boardwalk is a great idea because it's only 15 minutes away from Space Center Houston. So see some space history during the day and then dinner at the boardwalk.

I agree! Whataburger is the best burger you can get anywhere in Texas . Grab yourself an ice cold Shiner and a #1 with cheese and you will have the true Texas experience!

Definitely check out the Galleria, and their is a restaurant down the street that I love called Grotto. Great Italian food. The Science Museum is great, and there is also a children's museum if you are bringing children. Discovery green has no shortage of activities for both children and adults.

If you go to San Antonio, you'll definitely enjoy the riverwalk. If you're looking for a nice place to stay, try Hotel Contessa. If you're looking a nice romantic spot- there is this lovely little "Marriage Island" that would be great for pictures, proposals, etc. ;) And maybe a boat ride.

Austin's music and are seen is wonderful!

@Eric Lyon, @Amanda, @johnn and anyone else who'd thinking of getting together, let me know if you decide to do it, I'd love to come.
