Rick Schwartz who has been known in the domain community as the “Domain King” has filed an administrative action to gain control of the domain name DomainKing.ng.

.Ng is the country code (ccTLD) for Nigeria.

Rick not only is commonly known as the Domain King inside the domain community, but has a federally registered trademark on the term “Domain King” in the United States since 2003 (which was renewed in 2013) as well as a European trademark.

DomainKing.ng is going to a full on domain name registrar site which appears to be owned by a company out of Jalandhar, India.

“I will be going after any site which is profiting off my good name and my protected trademark.”

Rick said he may file lawsuits for damages, not just UDRP’s, against companies that are using “Domain King” to profit off his trademark and good name.

In an article written about Mike Mann in 2014, Rick commented that he owns the trademark for "Domain King" in more than 100 countries. Just curious where are these trademarks in uspto?

According to Rick Schwartz's comment (your mentioned link) he does not wrote ''that he owns the TM for ''Domain King'' in more than 100 countries.''

He just wrote "Domain King" is a registered TM in more than 100 countries (...).''

domainking.jp has been around since 2009/2010 as a domain registrar

They also have a trademark of the term "Domain King" in Japan, Philippines, Singapore, etc.

Why hasn't he filed a UDRP against them?

Maybe he will start a 'class action'.

BTW Another active 'domainking' - website is .nl (netherlands).

For someone "retired" ..............seems a bit anal

I'm not sure why Rick would spend the time or money to go after this name. If he doesn't own the international trademark, I think he loses if the company tries to defend the name.

That's what bothers me. He has millions, says he's retired, yet he goes after this small-time company to supposedly protect his mark that he never put to good use in the first place. DomainKing.com has never been an active website (it's only even been url forwarded/masked) or linked to his other websites.

He never went after DomainKing.jp which has an active trademark of "Domain King" in Japan, Singapore, Phillipines, and Indonesia.

WTF is his point?

Lol, I own GODofdomain.com and that doesn't mean I'm god and If Mr.Rick feels he is king just because he has domainking and sold a couple good domains by luck because he was there when the .com was released, then I'm GOD who is superior to him.
Lol :p
Grow up rick.

because it is by GMO, the company that paid $8 million for z.com and has a lot of money and lawyers?

this website is fun it is designed like a fast food restaurant. Inspired by a very famous mark?

A TM is created to protect it.
I can understand Mr. Schwartz (and any other who protect their TMs).

If anything I think they should be the ones offended by domainking.ng...since they are an active registrar business.

Rick should just sell them domainking.com and it's US/EU trademarks. Perhaps that's his goal..

I wonder why he's not going after the guy trying to sell THEDomainKing.com....that seems more of a threat than some .ng domain....

And how can someone profit from the name "domain king" anyway? Rick has nothing to worry about. He's the one who gives the brand meaning. If he's not behind the brand then there's no fire...no flare....

:-D

lol...

I agree he has TM on that but Domain King isn't a common word !!?

Edit: just seen the .ng website and they added in footer,

"DomainKing™ is a trademark of Hannu Internet Corp. © 2014."

Edit 2:

Also they own co.in, .biz etc.,

Edit 3:

.ng is scam website, JMO.
What makes it look like a scam?

What makes it look like a scam?

They don't have original office address (showing one is fake).

They run 4 business in single address but all the business are not related to each other :P they use same phone number but they are not related !!!

I chat with REP and all his info's are wrong and not matched . I will publish if rick needed it.

I'd love to see domainking.ng file a suit for reverse domain hijacking! Would be hilarious.

DomainKing.ng is scam? Or are you talking about the .ng extension as scam? I'm a little bit lost after reading your comment. Be sure about what you post here mate. 'Scam' is a strong word

I'm troubled by the fact that the king of anything wouldn't know the difference between 'new' and 'knew'
