Hi everyone,

I have just made a fresh start today in domain flipping. I am trying to read up beginners' threads on this forum, and I must say they are turning out to be very useful. Meanwhile, I bought a handful of domain names to kick start my work. I need your opinion as to how much promising these domain names sound, and where should I start selling? Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Do more research before loading up on more. You don't have much potential in what you've picked up so far.

Thanks for your input inforg. I don't plan to buy in bulk for now at least, and since my research isn't anywhere near to good.

But can you let me know, where should I be selling these?

You could list them on eBay, you could list them right here on this forum, godaddy, Sedo, Flippa, afternic, etc.

You are going to spend a lot of time and these names are unlikely to even get your money back. See if you can delete them and get credit and start over.

You can park them with a sales page but they will sit for many years with no offers for the most part, some might never sell like that. you have to search for people who can use the domain and try to sell it to them. None of the domains are very good though so even people with worse domains might have a hard time taking the time to switch to yours. Some of those you could get xxx for if you find the right person, but that's easier said than done.

Right, so what makes them so bad? :)

Hi and welcome to NP!

I see you like brand names, so you can focus on 2-word brandables. Checkout BrandBucket to see what type of 2-word names are competitive.

It won't be easy to find end-users for the names you have right now, so if you can sell them on Ebay or even here at prices above reg-fee that would be a great deal.

Good Luck!

Look at the niche for each domain than consider how many better options are possible.

WhatAWearable.com
Wearable isn't really a mainstream term. "WhatA" has no connection with "wearable" other than a brandable. It's not very good sounding for a brand at all though.

FashionCacophony.com (it's more like a brand name)
Try convincing ppl to brand that name? Doubtful, and if you did, cacophony.com would be the ultimate choice, putting fashion infront makes it sound cheap.

SmartphonesRage.com
Plural sucks when the singular makes the most sense. The 2 words don't have obvious connection.

Love4Rings.com
Maybe a blog, but really, who's blogging about rings exclusively?

TechieFacts.com
Not too bad but again, where's the market? What's a techie fact anyways?

HeadsetsBlast.com
again plural, only good for a brand and blastheadsets makes a lot more sense for that.

SportsNewsBlast.com
too high competition for such long/bad domain name. BlastNews is better...you are putting words in bad order.

FoodDeluge.com
doesn't make sense to most ppl. could be a branded site of some sort but it's longshot.

HotMovieRatings.com
Too big of a market.."hot" isn't good enough. you need a good domain for authority, like movieratings.com to do good in this niche. Words like "best", "popular" are better if you go this route, but still...no.

Really bad choices full of classic mistakes...

"4"="for" is outdated... Nobody wants them. 4+keyword and for+keyword go unpicked on expired even for great words...

If you have Kw+Kw, first one in plural works rarely if at all... So HeadsetsBlast is worthless...

Kw+Kw+Kw works really really rarely... So stay away until you understand.

Cacophony is a negative word. Why would you go for Fashion+Cacophony? Fashion is about harmony. Plus Cacophony is about sounds, not visuals...

Thank you everyone for your input. I'd avoid these mistakes when I buy domains the second time. Keep your useful tips coming.

stay away from 3 word domains until you know what you are doing, no use of numbers in place of words like 2 and 4, no hyphens, shorter the better, needs some commercial application, stay away from hand registrations.

Here is a newbie technique I pass on to friends:

Buy your first names at expiring auctions like godaddy or dynadot. Use the following criteria:

.com only
5 years old or more
2 words or less English only
More than 20 monthly visitors
No hyphens, numbers or IDNs
At least 2 bidders already placed a bid
Check Google Adwords for at least 100 exact match monthly searches
No trademarked names
Bid no more than $35-$40 on anything and try to snipe at end

This will maximize your potential while minimizing your downside.

List them here at Auctions and see how they do and decide further.

WWWelcome aboard!
I checked your WHOIS and your registrar is enom and you've just registered these domains. On the top, you've added privacy as well. Hope you didn't pay extra money for these add-ons. If you did so, that would be an insult to the injury.
I believe you can still get a full refund. Just contact them and tell them you changed your mind. Once you've got your refund back, come back to this forum and READ READ READ articles and consult with the NP members. Trust me, all are very helpful. Even you can talk to me as well anytime you wish to. MY ONLY GOAL IS TO ADVISE THE NEW DOMAINERS NOT TO REPEAT SILLY MISTAKES THAT I MADE IN THE PAST!
Just a piece of advice, buy dotcom domains that are very short and make sense. Limit word combination to just two-word. For example, look for domains like RichMonkey.com, not MyRichMonkey.com or RichMonkeyOnline.com
Domaining and flipping domains is a crazy business...
All the best :)

Welcome to Domaining, the suggestions posted here will definitely be helpful for you. The domains seem to be a nice effort if you are buying as your first lot, however marketability is all together a different thing. I suggest to list them at different market places with Make an Offer, like Flippa, Godaddy etc.

This thread has been immensely helpful! I will definitely avoid the same mistakes.
Also, these didn't cost me too much, so instead of returning, maybe I should try to sell them off and see how it goes.

You won't sell them fast if at all. you will be stuck renewing them for many years and won't likely get your money back. If you keep them then you are just gambling. listen to other guy and go to your registrar and request 'grace delete' for your money back. the food one is only one with any hope at all.

Just for my GK, how are domain name with the word "cloud" doing?

Right, so what makes them so bad? :)

WhatAWearable.com Nonsensical, Not really brandable. A clearer sentence whatisawearable.com is available (dont reg it)
FashionCacophony.com This is just too 'out there'
SmartphonesRage.com The rage kills it. Too unlikely anyone else would have to have this or have the same idea. Singular available.
Love4Rings.com 4 for 'for' is often looked down upon ( but now always) But I would guess if you tried to sell this to a jeweler it wouldn't go too well.
TechieFacts.com Facts? sounds like a low budget development, and why not build on org or net instead of buying the domain from you.
HeadsetsBlast.com The Blast kills this like the rage earlier
SportsNewsBlast.com Same thing, the 'blast' is just a wildcard or filler string that tells the world you just threw in blast
FoodDeluge.com I cant totally complain about this one, just who would buy it? Hard to actively get out of this.
HotMovieRatings.com Why would someone want to look up movie rating and think they are hot? Maybe you were thinking 'reviews' instead. And if so why would reviews be 'hot'

I hope some of this thinking is helpful, Good Luck

Hi Everyone,

I am fairly new to this domaining business (been a month), and have recently acquired some domains. I'd be glad to have some help from you guys, my fellow pro-domainers in getting an appraisal value for the following domains:

AlgaeMask[dot]com
This domain is about 9 years old and it's NET extension is taken.
It's a generic beauty product name, like acne mask, this particular mask helps in anti-aging. A lot of brands are selling this product on eBay and Amazon, do you think it will be a good idea to target them? What would be an appropriate price?

BusRoutesLondon[dot]com
This is a GEO domain and gets above 5,000 exact searches
What do you think would be a good price for it? And how can I identify an end-user for this?

APKFreeApps[dot]com
It's info extension is taken.
Not sure who can I sell it to, but what should be a rough price estimate?

Thank you in advance,
Looking for responses from my fellow domainers.
