That is an embarrassing question... I bought a domain that generates unexpected traffic (4500 uniques over 2 weeks). I have no experience with monetizing traffic, or selling domains with traffic. I do not even know where the traffic comes from or how long it will last. What should I do with that name - is there somewhere I can put it up for sale where the traffic will be an asset? I got even one offer of USD 300 for it at Efty... the domain is 1/t/k/k/./c/o/m . Can someone please advise? Siteprice.com valuates this site at USD 6700, and I have no clue why...

First thing i would suggest is to add google analytics to get more details on your traffic. It's free and easy to implement. you can find a video on YouTube with directions on how to do so.

This is how the domain looked like in the past:
http://www.screenshots.com/1tkk.com/
According to ahrefs it was a 'watch movies' site
https://ahrefs.com/site-explorer/overview/v2/subdomains/live?target=1tkk.com

there is a chance the offer you got was from the previous owner which means that you might not get another one

still,
-you can park it on any of the parking services around (parkingcrew, voodoo, bodis, domainsponsor, etc.) to check how much and if there is any revenue to be earned.
-you can negotiate a sale with the offer you got (or place it on auction)
-you can create your own movie site (if you speak chinese)
..or as the person above me said, you can analyse the traffic ever more by setting google analytics on it

Or you can just park it. There are many parking companies someone here may be able to recommend one to you

Thank you, that explains a lot, I will park it at Bodis.

great choice. Reason being their interface which shows a lot about the traffic origins (country, backlinks, type-in, searches)
That will definitely help you decide what you want to do next.

You might want to delay answering the $300 offer since, if the traffic does not pay much within a week, imo you should sell it.
Reason is,
from my experience in parking *a lot* of 'watch movies online' domains, if the domain does not show daily revenue in a week then it's no good.
Those kind of domains bring less $/click but have lots of daily clicks. So, daily revenue does not matter much as long as its constant and greater than zero-ish.

You should do something else, forward it to something. I'll PM you with something.

Sell before you loose that traffic....or like suggested earlier, configure Google Analytics and webmaster tool ASAP so at least you know what kind of traffic it is and the type of content they expect, if you can get similar content back up on the site, you can keep the traffic, or even grow it further! It can worth a good amount of money if you can keep that traffic stream.

Well, according to prchecker.info, the domain name has a Page rank of 2 which is good for seo ranking!

A similar thing happened to me years ago and I've built a site with ads and made $700+ a month and when the traffic started to slow down Ive sold it for $6,000.

Don't place google adsense ads, your account will be banned. P.M me if you want to know more about how I've made money with a similar site.

Well, I have no experience in developing a Chinese movies site, and not much in page building at all. I'm afraid that traffic will die off soon with parking. Where could I sell it so the buyer is aware of the PR and the traffic this site receives?

Note that I also support the idea of you selling it but I wanted to clarify one thing concerning the traffic dying off.

I have 'movies' and generally 'online watch ...' domains parked for some time now and they still retain their traffic. Some even have even better traffic now than before , especially those that show online sports matches.

It all depends what the visitors look for when visiting the site and it also greatly depends upon how internet educated the visitors are (so they know the difference between a parked site and a 'normal' site).

Where do you park such domains, @Hypersot? I can't see where I could optimize keywords for that the page on Bodis ...

Bodis don't have that feature I'm afraid.
If you really want to set keywords for your domain, you can try voodoo, parkingcrew or domainsponsor

I personally use parkingcrew but that doesn't mean that PC will work best for your domain. You need to check for yourself what platform works best.

The best is to build a site like I have done in the past. Parking won't give you a lot.
Check an old screenshot of my old website: Linkzo.com/1428623743.jpg
There's a lot of cheap movie directory sites for sale at codecanyon.net.

All you will have to do is upload it to a server, place ads and work on seo.

The ads I have been using are from ad-center.com

I think you made the right call parking this domain, and the advice to reassess in one to two weeks to check the value against the bid seems like solid advice.

4500 hits over two weeks is not a lot of traffic for a site with traffic, but I agree its enough to think about in the right niche. For this niche, people are saying it is a Chinese tube site, it would take a fair effort to turn it in on autopilot and make worthwhile money. The main value of a tube site is to view videos so your income would mostly come from ads, (as opposed to say drop shipping products and ads). If you're not developing domains with traffic regularly it will be more difficult for you to develop a working site that can autopilot and get the value back from the effort of developing the site.

For me a major consideration in this case of parking vs. development would also be the original language. Screenshots show it is in Chinese, you would need to keep it in Chinese to get the right value from it. For me my native language is not Chinese and that would be an instant deciding factor for me not to develop.

If you're looking for a good learning experience this could be a fun way to dabble in site development if you feel its an exciting project and have the time :)
