discuss .info Domains Current & future market

Namescon 2016 saw great surge in auction and demand for .info Domains even leaving behind other TLDs .net & .org.

So many have the question & unclarity as to what is the current & what will be the future market 2016 onwards of .info domains for Short, Generic, Single word & Numerics.

Your thoughts please

It's perceived to be a good extension for sites of reference but not suitable for most large companies to center stage their business.

Both the amount of .info's registered (currently 5.4m) and its mean sales price has been steadily declining in recent years and never reached the heights of .org or .net. although fresh evidence suggests that registrations are increasing again.

It now has a lot more competition now than when it first started out but has got a good head start on most TLD's.

.Info's top sales have come from popular english short one-word's and not numerics.

Just as the extention says .info which is mostly for informative & not for commerical sites which i agree to your quote "not suitable for most large companies to center stage their business".
So what is mostly the intent of companies registering some commercial keywords such as Gold.info, Rent.info and many others.
Is it that the sites are only developed as an informative site or they backlink to their main site.
Would be more helpful if you provide any statistics of past sales of top .info.

from reported sales i dont see anything interesting going on in the .info camp:

$1K+ sales:
2014 - 92
2015 - 98

comparing to (2014/2015)

TV - 81 / 102
net - 574 / 1,156
co - 147 / 159

...all with seemingly much higher average selling price vs .info

with the massive introduction of nGTLDs where many of them can be potentially direct competitors to .info (.online, .directory, .guide, .web etc) i would not expect info to make any substantial progress or draw any more interest from end users in the nearest future...

just imho

.INFO continues to perform well for single word commercial-orientated keywords (popular products or services). We have sold many in the 5-figures (games.info, mortgage.info, homes.info etc.).

We have been buying one word wonders dot info for last couple years.
We feel they are under priced when you look at the cost of one word generics in the new TLD's. You can have a website related to info on a service or topic, then introduce your service or company to them. Insurance dot info or sailboats dot info etc.

Why is sailboats dot guru better than sailboats dot info?

Got a mid/low xxx offer on a 2 word .info the other day on Godaddy. People know this extension - it's viewed as the sensible, respectable and knowledgeable uncle of .org

Seems GO Daddy is the place to sell .infos. Flippa was a good place as well from what I gathered way back. Dont know if that is still the case.

At my last count I had over 550+ .infos.... I sell enough to pay for renewals and purchase a few new ones each day.

I develop a lot for IM and online revenue and high CPC .infos can be found daily. Highly undervalued but I personally don't mind it.

Leaves more for me to buy cheap
