Emailing endusers...a few questions?

To those using email marketing to end users usually small business owners...I have a few questions...

1. About how long on average do you think it takes to get a response back from them, that is of course, if you get a response back at all?

2. On another note, is this the preferred method or does anybody use cold calling? I've never done it but I heard it works better, I'm just worried that I'm bothering them.

3. Anybody shoot an email 1st and then add a follow-up call? If so, have you had better success than sitting and waiting for them to email you back?

I really haven't had any luck with email marketing in general but than again I don't own any really amazing domains that would get a lot of responses back. I think many free email accounts (gmail, yahoo, aol, etc.) automatically get stuck in peoples spam folder or they never receive them due to filters they have set so it might be better to use an email account that's attached to the domain you're trying to sell (ex: [email protected]).

I know with many Chinese domainers, china has policies that block numerous USA-based websites & ip addresses from what I understand so good luck getting your email about your domain to a chinese buyer. I also don't think many chinese domainers are on Namepros. Might be better to find a bi-lingual domain broker for those domains you think Chinese domainers will love or list them on auctions sites where they can be more readily found.

As for cold-calling I know some have had really great success doing that, Federer (https://www.namepros.com/members/federer.86886/), being the main cold-calling domainer that comes to mind. 1) Sometimes 5 min, sometimes not at all. 75% of people are not ready to buy at the moment you email them. You send the same email to the same person 3 months later and you get an answer.

2) Yes if the domain is VERY relevant and targeted. Example: hisbusiness.net is the lead, hisbusiness.com is your domain name and you have a buy now page set up and you are not going to ask 100.000$ for a 1000$ name.

3) Pushy IMO. If they do not answer back IMO do not call.

Yes. Theres 100 reasons why 75% of all customers are not ready to buy when you email them on the first go. They could be having a bad day, fight with the wife, busy with work, broke, not in a good mood etc etc.

You may also have bad luck the first time and the email gets opened by some idiot and not a decision maker. Most people will not remember you emailed them at all after 3 months time, its like dealing a whole new deck of cards every time. Some of course will never be interested no matter what, but that is life.
