6 pages of auctions in just over 14 hours!

Surprised to see a thread I started in the 'auctions' section just over 14 hours ago to already be on page 6 of the auctions section. At the rate of current postings (new threads, bumps, and indeed even bids being posted) this will mean that a new listing that does not attract a bid in the first 24 hours of posting is likely to end up on circa. page 11 of the auction listings within the day. Such a drop from visibility will decrease the likelihood of attracting a bids.

Is it not possible for NP to actually attach to the forum some form of a listing page/s so that all those domains on offer for sale can be viewed together?

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

Could you clarify your question?

I'm not sure what you mean.

Hi Eric,

My idea is that a page (more likely pages) be formed whereby those domains offered for sale are listed automatically when someone creates a sales thread. The domains listed on the page could be organised either alphabetically or by submission date, any visitor to the page could click on the domain listing and be taken to the appropriate thread in the sales forums to follow up.

I think this may well be a great advantage to members as it would mean that they would have an easy reference to search through to see what domains were being offered for sale. It could also be that some sellers may then take advantage of forwarding their domains to the listing (pretty much what many do on Sedo, Afternic, etc. presently), this would likely increase the number of visitors to the forum as a whole as potential non-domainer buyers might find the forum due to this (OK maybe only a few ;) ).

By having such pages it would mean that there should be less 'bumps' on the sales threads and therefore keep all those sales threads cleaner in appearance.

I guess this would be a kind of halfway house between the present forum sales listings and a Sedo/Afternic/ etc. site listings. I would think something like the following kind of listing scheme would look good:

Domain Name (and link) ........... Type of Sale (Auction/etc.) .................... Date added

Just an idea as having just come back to the forum I realised today just how quickly such listings can become buried and why there are so many bumps that occur in the sub-forums.

I most probably haven't explained this very well, but I can write a better proposal for such if you would like for you to consider. (Please note I am not asking for you to get me to do it for you, just a suggestion for you to get someone else who knows what they are doing to do it for you! LOL )

My $0.02....

Charge a fee to sticky an auction, make it bold or highlighted in color.

Bill - Thanks, it sounds like a hybrid between Sedo/Afternic and what we have now, right?

Currently, we do have a way sort listings by New Listings or Recent Bids on our Buy Domains page, but I agree that much is still left to be desired (like sorting alphabetically by domain). We've been working on some new features for months now, and we hope to release them soon. :)

Not sure of the feasibility but would it not be possible to change the listings in a way so that users can navigate to a page and this would have an alphabetical list of domains for sale.

Easy for sales when only 1 domain is for sale but a bit more work would be required for job lots.

If you did it this way domains could be categorized so someone could find exactly the type of domain they would like.

On the listings page it could simply link then to the forum post.
