with mars being common talk in the media lately, and a new mars movie out today, there is some hype surrounding the topic. what do you think of marsbases.com? There might really be mars bases someday, albeit far off. Do you think I should put this domain on no reserve auction? is it worth GD premium? What would you expect? thanks.

i can't really see any value here, unless you keep the domain for at least 30 years... Who would be your buyer right now?? Even if you had martianwater.com I still wouldn't see any value there.

It's not a valuable domain, because it isn't something that needs heavy marketing, now or in the future. It won't ever give anyone a meaningful business advantage.

Currently it has no value but who knows, after 10 to 20 years it might worth a lot.

At least 30 years sounds too long! It could be valuable even during a planning stage, right? A lot of people would be looking for progress or news concerning that. A buyer could be anyone as far as im concerned. martianwater.com is nowhere near as good, imo. Water on mars, woop, what else do you need to know?

I have no idea what you are talking about? Not needing marketing bad...I thought that was good. The goal of something like this is to get traffic, it's a legitimate name for a business advantage.

It might be worth a lot...like a lotto ticket? How can it be worth 0 now with even 1% chance of being worth 'a lot?'

your thinking outside the box ...good luck and dont care about what they saying here you can't depend totally on it.. it seems that every thing here is reg fee and has no value hahaha..if you have your own sight of future then you will get the chance ...you are right about what you said mars has become an important topic in media so may it will be chance...you dont need to wait 30 or 300 years until they travel and live in mars to make money of your domain but its still there is a chance just because people are interested in the mars issue

I think the singular tense would be better, but honestly neither are that great. I don't see any real resale value in it.

The singular would be far better. There is likely to be talk about a marsbase in the coming years... But "bases", not for a long, long time. The singular could also have potential for a game or something... The plural here is the killer of the value, IMHO.

Let's say in future, scientists find alien bases in mars or humans reach mars and start making bases there. In both cases value of domain will increase. But non of the above has happened till now, so currently it has no value.

Good Luck.

All I can say is Matt Damon's movie, Martian, was terrible lol.

The problem is that it may not be worth anything in 30 years as we may never colonize mars, or create a bases. If there is no base, then nothing will ever come of the name. I own Kepler452b.org, the new earth-like planet discovered, but I'm in the same boat. If they can never reach the planet, what good is it? If they never create "bases" on Mars, what good is it? The Mars hype may be a fleeting a moment, and I believe it already is. Who cares if there was ever water on Mars? NASA seems to get a woody over it, but I find the news to be quite boring.
