Good luck with your sales!

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
No kidding! I'd love to just come up with these profitable obscure names out of the blue. Maybe I should start scanning the drops, since my mind just doesn't come up with brandable nam

Thanks, but I didn't make up this one, I just saw it while browsing through a list of dropped domains.

Brandable domains are quite subjective, and a lot of the names that are hand registered as brandables are "newly thought up" and have never been registered before (nobody else has thought of those domains or at least not been willing to pay regfee for them before). While these domains can sell on platforms like BrandBucket, it also seems like many sellers with lots of newly made up names are finding it difficult to sell them, even if they are listed on BrandBucket.

If a domain has been registered one or multiple times in the past, at least one or multiple people saw some value in the name before. I guess there is a slightly higher chance that somebody will think of, or see value in, one of those domains again in the future. Of course, if a domain has been registered before, that alone doesn't guarantee that it is a quality domain name (thousands of low-quality domains drop every day).

So if a domain has been registered before, that doesn't guarantee it has any value, but the lack of any past registration history at all, will often indicate that there is little or no value.

Domains on drop lists have obviously been registered before, but if a great name comes to you out of nowhere, you can check here whether it has been registered in the past, and for how long (only based on active nameservers history, but in most cases gives you a good idea about which time periods a domain has been registered in the past). DomainTools, screenshots.com, and archive.org can also provide useful information about a domain's past. This is not essential when considering to hand reg a domain name, but for brandables in particular, which are hard to judge "objectively", I think it can be quite helpful to take into consideration.

Nice one. How did you make the sale? List it on auctions, marketplaces, end user email outreach?

I sent 3 outbound emails at the day I received the name, got one responded on next day, but it took almost 3 months for him to complete the payment.

Wow! Good job, easy profit. Did you toss a landing page on there and create a domain email address or none of that?

I sold a low quality CVCV (with Y is one of the vowels) on eBay for $316 (Gross). I purchased it here at NP for $170. When I checked LLLsales.com later the same domain was sold at Godaddy auction couple of times before in $100-$120 range. I cursed myself for paying such high price. I tried to sell the domain here at NP for as low as $200-$220. Nobody agreed. Finally I am happy . I am able to get rid of it.
I also sold two LLLL.net for $90 which I purchased 3/4 days back for $48.

I think we can learn good lesson from people like @thekiller and @Arca about how to hand register and sell them for descent profit. Will certainly try. Thanks.

@sam roy we need to learn from past and move forward. Buy domains which you see some value in it.

it's quite sometime since I have reported sales here. I was mostly on my LLLL.com clearance since more than a month, selling all the unwanted LLLL domains
1. I sold a lot of 25 LLLL.com for $2000 here on namepros (deal via escrow) - all were double premium or less except SQEL, that i am missing badly now.
2. Sold a lot of 10 LLLL.com again for $100/each to another member here, deal was closed on Sept 7.
3. Just 5 days back sold another lot of 10 LLLL.com for $189/each just 5 days back
4. Also sold couple of chinese premium in first week of august for $6xx range.
Today i regret all of those deals expect the third one that was done just few days back. Anyways it's part of business
All deals were on Namepros itself :)

Just saw this reported on Flippa: LolNexus.lol sells for $11,000 (BY OFFER) and I would only like to LOL it. Domaining is full of some utterly surprising sales.

I never knew that .LOL was even an extension and it seems like the only sale for this gTLD, DNPrices is not updated on this one though since it seems to be reported only yesterday.

From the still unupdated whois, the seller seems to be:
Registrant Name: Eivinn Hoddevik
Registrant Street: Oykhagen 3
Registrant City: Sandnes
Registrant Postal Code: 4311
Registrant Country: NO
Registrant Phone: +1.6178633812

It was understood that BitcoinWallet.com and BitcoinsWallet.com belonged to the same person and after selling BitcoinWallet.com for $250,000 on Flippa, the owner was stating in the blogs that he had an offer of $250,000 for BitcoinsWallet.com as well. Surprising to see it go for only $650 specially when someone just made a $250,000 sale.

The domains you are thinking of are BitcoinWallet.com and BitcoinWallets.com not BitcoinsWallet.com

My bad, mixed it up.
Thanks for correction, removed that part.

League of Legends aka "LOL" is the most popular online game on PC. The goal of the game is to destroy the other team's nexus.. The buyer was probably unaware of value of domain names and had a lot of money to waste..
