Hey, good luck with your domains, but just keep in mind that when it comes to marketing products, a term that appeals to consumers will be used, i.e. can be easily branded.

So, you have IOEHolo, but companies such as Microsoft will market using their own branded terms, e.g. Holo Lens.

That means future tech domains are really hard to predict, but you only need a handful of winners to make it work I guess.

The IoT thread included IoE as well. Having a separate thread though won't hurt I suppose :)

Do you know the difference between IoT and IoE btw?
Personally I haven't invested anything on IoE names since I always thought that IoE was Cisco's creation while IoT is a more 'global' thing similar to what holo names (global) are to hololens (microsoft)

Terms like "IOE" and "IOT" are industry jargon, so I don't like them as keywords in domain, whereas I think the keyword "cloud" has more meaning and clout among the general public.

I imagine so considering "the cloud" has been heavily marketed to the general public for the past several years now. We're only just starting to see the IOT marketed to the general public such as with AT&T's commercial currently airing.

I picked my IOT names with industry professionals in mind rather than the general public.

Jargon or not the trend is on fire and getting people paid. Iotgroup just sold for 10k on sedo. The way I see it is if I can register a Domain for $1.17 and sell it for $50 bring on that jargon...

IOT = Internet of Things
IOE = Internet of Everything
IIOT = Industrial Internet of Things
HIOT = Human Internet of Things

All are slogans in search of a brand, IMO.
So I let my IOE names drop, and now focus on finding THE Brand.

As its all about connected sensors, I've been pushing...

SENSORISE and SENSURL (sensor with a url), as The Brands
and SensorFeed.com as the common denominator.

But, I agree, there will be some nice IOT / IOE sales.

I chuckled when I saw the tooth brush in the infographic. I wonder if it's really practical to put connectivity in absolutely everything. Maybe NFC in a toothbrush, but not connectivity....

People referred to the internet as "The Information Super Highway" in the 90s when we saw the explosion of the internet coming. Now the same thing is happening to IoT. So it's very possible that no one will care about this term after 5 years in the same way that no one cares about The Information Super Highway. It's just too long when you can just call it "the internet", which is probably what we'll do in the coming years.

Not to say that you can't try to capitalize on a buzzword while it's hot.

Don't forget IOM (the Internet Of Me) ;)

Cloud is a much more marketable term than IOT or IOE.

IOT and IOE are great terms for blogs and mags reporting on the growth, but I doubt that businesses will be adding them to the names of products and services.

Some of the largest companies are jumping on the IOT/IOE bandwagon and it's only the beginning of the race.

I did manage to grab IOESocial in Com, Thanks to @Jingles post

IOT and IOE will be one of the biggest things to happen since the explosion of the internet itself. That's something I never denied. I just choose to invest in specific technology terms that make the IoT happen, but no terminology is future proof, even the specific terms. I just feel that IoT is has too many similarities to "The Information Super Highway" right before the internet blew up. It sounds more like a collective idea about all of the technologies that will come together, rather than a specific technology, just like The Information Super Highway. So it's a little bit harder to use as a marketing terminology or product name. The specific terms used for actual technologies will likely have more lastability IMHO...

"The Information Super Highway"

The internet is being redesigned and it's being called IOE/IOT.
There is another tech bubble before us and regardless of what it's called I want to get paid.
