Fake Email asking for transfer codes

Forward it to GD. It's generally a good rule of thumb to never respond to scam/spam emails.

It is not necessarily spam - It may be that a previous owner of the domain listed it for sale through GD action and that it is never removed? I bought a domain 2 months ago and was told by GD that I should mail the owner for tranfer, but it turned out that he did not own the domain any longer and that it was listed for sale by the previous owner.

@wwwulff I completely agree with you but there are two things that made me suspicious.
1. I did a reverse whois checkup for that email and found that there was not a single domain associated with it. So if he is a genuine buyer then this is going to be his first domain name.
2. I didn't got any reply from him in 24 hours. Generally new people reply with answers like " But I paid there and GD mailed me to ask for trand

He must be a scammer. RED ALERT.

Stay away from him...

Godaddy usually acts the go between when the domain is sold on their site, and the domain is not with them. This is assuming that the previous owner still had it listed for sale at GD.

Godaddy does give the email address of the seller to the buyer to contact, if there is any issue... but Godaddy wouldn't have your email address since you didn't list it for sale there.

Doesn't sound right. Forward that email to GD for safety purposes.
