Google has acquired the 2-letter domain name YT.com.
The domain does not direct to any website as of now, but I suppose it will direct to YouTube in a couple of days.
According to the DomainTools Whois History Tool, YT.com was previously registered under privacy at Dynadot. As of today, the Whois information is public, and Google is listed as the domain name registrant. The domain name is now registered at Mark Monitor. It looks like Google bought YT.com very recently.

Considering the fact that Facebook paid $8.5 million for Fb.com, we can say that the sale would be for 7-figure atleast.

FInd the details related to this news here

There were undisclosed LL.com sales in the past and their prices are unknown.
There is a high possibility that the above sale will never be disclosed.
Definitely high 7 figures domain name.
Perhaps up to low 8 figures if he got lucky :)

We will soon find out when yt.com will redirect to youtube.com :)
How comfortable :D we will only have to type 2 letters to get to it.

Well if it is like RT.com it will be used for a country - Yemen Today, or maybe Yucatan Today.

I would imagine it will be used for YouTube since Google purchased it and not a country news site.

Wow, good news for the industry and probably for @NickSE :)

YT.com will probably be re-directed to youtube.com just like fb.com and fb.co is re-directed to facebook.com. It is shorter to type in yt.com than youtube.com.

Because Google doesn't seem to want to support the domain industry, I wouldn't be surprised if they're avoiding the disclosure of how much they paid for it.
