Who is Best Hosting Provider?

Are you looking for shared web hosting, VPS or dedicated server? What other web hosting requirements do you have such as disk space, bandwidth, etc?

There is no single best hosting provider. Its based on what you need and what the host can offer.

Best according to what criteria? According to the large amount of negative reviews they get!

Super vague and to a large extent, wrongly put question... sadly such pop daily in the hosting forums...

If you care to share details about your project, requirements and budget, this would really help getting some more quality replies...

I am godaddy has better plans.

I can only chime in on shared hosting options from my own experience, but I've nothing but good things to say about HawkHost's shared hosting plan.

If you need more power than shared hosting, check out Digital Ocean.

It’s a tough fight between GoDaddy and Hostgator as I feel both are really good especially comparing their price too but I just give slight but very slight edge to Hostgator as I feel they are better host and as for GoDaddy they are better domain provider so both have their strong points but at the end of the day it’s all about personal choice that some like Godaddy some prefer Hostgator.

GoDaddy should not be considered unless you want to have extra cost tacked on after you start a hosting plan with them. Their Shared hosting plans only come with 512MB of RAM to use and you will get warnings all the time saying your resources are at their limit and to please buy more resources. They charge you an extra $2 a month to give you 1GB or RAM so that's an extra $24 a year. Many other cPanel host will give you 1GB of RAM included in their hosting plans so you won't run out of resources easily. If you domain doesn't get much traffic then you will be ok with GoDaddy.

GoDaddy's hosting support totally screwed up one of my WordPress sites to a point that it could not be fixed. I had to rebuild the site from scratch after moving it to another host. They are very nice on the phone but their hosting support needs improvement. I had to call and deal with them several times after they screwed up my website before it was found to be a total loss. Several of their support people I talked to on the phone said they were going to get it fixed within an hour or two and then they would call me back. None ever did. I had to keep calling them back for days before it was found a lost cause.

As for other hosts, STAY AWAY from any host that is owned by EIG! Some of their hosting companies are ipage, hostgator, hostmonster, fatcow, justhost, + many more. I had a couple of hosting plans with 2 different companies of theirs and after being with them for many months they then held my websites hostage. They tried to force me into buying sitelock security through them before they would release my websites. They claimed my sites had malware. The sites were previously by both free and paid security companies and they found NO malware at all.

As a clash of interest the software they used to detect and scan the supposedly infected websites was software by sitelock, the same company they were trying to force me to buy their malware protection from. They wanted me to pay just under $100 per site to have the supposed malware fixed and have my sites released. Since I had dozens this added up to thousands of dollars. If you don't want to get strong armed into buying their sitelock security package then stay away from them. This happened to both of my accounts at different hosting companies of theirs.

As far as which is best, that will depend on what your exact needs are. There are many good ones out their. I have one hosting account at Namecheap and have been with them for getting close to a year and their support is the very best I have ever had. Their first year of sharred hosting prices are really good and they give you twice the RAM as godaddy and many others. If you ever need support they will usually fix anything withing a couple hours. I have had issues resolved in less than a half hour on multiple occasions.

+ 1 to the above host relating to everything about GD and HG etc. I did a lot of research when choosing my hosting provider, and GD and HG were at the bottom of the pile! I can't understand all the recommendations on here, go do your homework on them and you'll quickly realise they're far from the best.

Whoever you choose, do your homework before committing to a plan and read up on other's experiences with them. My 2 cent.

I think the two Bigrock and Bluehost India are the best hosting service provider because they are offering the best services while keeping the price minimum.

SiteGround.com is best, speed, reliability, server response time.

Their tech support people are very nice and very available ... but useless. And heaven forbid you have a security issue - all they'll do is try to upsell you to a useless, overpriced add on feature.

I had a plan with them a while back because I was going to have to buy a domain at their $9.99 price so I just went ahead and got the $12 for a year hosting plan since the hosting wound up being $2 more for a year and the domain was included.

The whole time I was with them I kept getting warnings that my hosting was out of resources. All they give for their many of their plans is 512MB of RAM, that's it. The other resources are all lower than most hosts as well.

Then to top it off I transferred the domain I had hosted with them to another registrar, they decided to remove it from my hosting plan. I was on the phone half a dozen times over 3 days trying to get everything sorted out. When all was done, one of their techs thought he had got everything fixed but he mistakenly erased my files and installed a new install WordPress and I lost everything, even the backups I had there.

They are real nice on the phone but after that incident I just don't trust them and the low resource levels seals the deal that they are just not a good choice for many people. If you have a few HTML landing pages or something that doesn't take a lot of resources then you might be ok. Just make SURE you have regular off-site backups because they might loose your website/files and then say sorry.

How do you "mistakenly" erase someone's site or take 3 days to straighten out a transfer? That's not the first story like that I've heard.
Recently we discovered a client site, hosted on GD had been hacked. Most shared hosts like to know about things like that to make sure other clients aren't affected, and will look into the incident or at least run a scan to make sure all the malware is off their servers.
So we contacted them. Their response? Tried to upsell the client to some lame add on security feature.

Speaking of bad tech support, there's the time I had a function (which involved getting data from a 3rd party site) break right after Hostgator changed servers. I hadn't changed the site and this function had worked like clockwork for years. Logical conclusion: something was lost in their configuration during the migration.
Tech support drone I got seized on the fact that I had an .htaccess file and was SURE (because they didn't understand it) that it was causing the problem. So they renamed it to test their theory, which just 404d half my site. Not a big deal except 1) it proved their incompetence and 2) they forgot to copy it back.

the best hosting I know are Hostgator! hawkhost are not bad, some of my friends said, Blue host also good! namecheap and godaddy, only good with domain! but for hosting they are really realy bad! very slow! if our hosting slow that'a a bad idea, because these day, google put speed time in their algo! I have blog, I get thousand visitor perday, my backlink are not good, but my speed are quite good, they have score 98! Big G gave me good rangkin especially for mobile user!

Hostgator used to be the best. But after their migration to the EIG umbrella now I consider Hostwinds.com as the best provider for shared and reseller hosting.

I think you right, I am not using them anymore since last 2011 lol! but, one of my friends said, that his site not getting index when he host on hostgator, not sure what reason! but I always believe if G bot doesnt like to visit! something happen in there! it could be domain history, or a bunch of spammer build a site in there. but my point is, dont use namecheap or Godaddy for hosting! I like namecheap, but only for register domain name! same like namepros, I like this forum,for selling domain! but I can't sell my ebook in here right ? lol! (joke)

LMAO, Only at GD! On of of the calls I had trying to deal with GD with the site gone issue they tried to talk to me about buying the DDC while they were waiting for someone. I told them I will talk about other purchases AFTER they find and return my site to me. I kind of got a dead silence for a minute!

That's why EIG believes in "On The Job Training", meaning they get their training while they are working on things right after being hired (away from McD's), NOT before they start their position! Who needs training beforehand, throw the tech's into the abyss and whoever can find daylight gets to keep their job another day!
