Always great to see a domain I sold for $1,052 in 2010 sold for $40,000, 4 years later(lol) I had a 1K premium on it back in the day which hurt selling the name, whereas Michael had no premium renewal after it dropped years later which help the resale value. Great sale, great for .tv, and Michael Berkens is a great guy, and congrats to him!!!

2 letter .tv are really picking up, been getting ton's of offers at 4.cn from the Chinese (low balls) but it's just a matter of time before the Chinese start paying good money for them.

Another awesome sale!

...and its not just 2-letter dot tvs that are picking up traction here. There has been quite a few other great sales in this extension lately as well.

Congrats to both CBS and MB!

Haha, congrats to you, Michael!

Good to see someone made money with this one. A bit of history on the domain: This name sold numerous times in the past. I bought it for $650 in dec. 2010 on a chinese auction site and resold it within a few weeks for $468 - after enduser marketing turned up no buyers. I didn't want to pay the renewal on it - the renewal fee was somewhere $x,xxx per year at the time, as the .TV registry still did 'premium' renewals on 'premium' domains. Don't remember the exact amount. As I recall, some .tv's had $xxx, xxx yearly renewals or even higher!

The new owner dropped the domain, obviously for the same reason that I sold it at a loss - $xxxx renewals turn a cheap domain into an expensive one very quickly.

The .tv registry quit the premium renewal scheme a (very short) while later, I believe early 2011 or 2012. Michael caught it, the premium renewal worn off after the domain dropped which made the domain a lot more attractive.

Now before all of you kids run off to buy .TV domains:

Congrats Jim

The numbers thread was one of the early threads that really brought a lot of traffic to the sub forum in the early days, after I wrote the post, every name except for I think DOS 2 in Spanish and Dix 10 in French (because of high premium renewal) got registered. I actually owned Acht.tv dropped it and Millers Crossing hand regged and JohnTV negotiated the sale for him at $10,000 from an initial $2,500 offer.

Six.tv $25,000 ($500 premium)
Acht.tv $10,000 Eight in German
Ten.tv $7,500
Other 4 figure sales of numbers one through ten:
Neun.tv 9 In German Sedo for 1500 euro / $2208 usd
Seis.tv 6 in Spanish $2,700
and then xxx:
Sechs.tv 6 in German $350

I was fortunate to have picked up Sechs.tv not too long ago. I agree that the numbers thread is a good investment if you find the right buyer.

Thanks,

This was definitely a nice sale earlier this year! Anyone have an idea how much he may have paid for it?

Congrats Michael. I'm happy to hear of your continuing success with .tv

Probably a bit late - but for clarification, I bought the name off Tim to ensure it definitely dropped - dropped it a month or so later - then picked it up again without the premium renewal. (yes, I had the backorder)

I then sold it to Michael and am very happy to hear he did so well with the name. Profits all round - some good, some very very good!

Great sale. Well Done.
