New marketplace launched - Freemarket.com

The new owners of the Warrior Forum have launched a new website/ domain marketplace at Freemarket dot com. They claim that it was created as a solution to the problem of high fees and minimum commissions charged by Flippa. It is free to list and when you sell a website or domain they charge a 5% commission after sale.

I think it is a good thing since it creates more options for sellers and more exposure for domains/ websites but it will take some time for it to pick up, especially when there are established marketplaces for domains like the one right here on Namepros. When it comes to selling websites, Flippa has carved a niche for itself.

I'm not so sure about this for a free listing . . . maybe if you make a request for removal, but then again, I don't see a way to end/cancel/remove a current free listing. It's probably so obvious I'm just missing it.

Free to list at freemarket but there are upgrade options. Free listings wont get any views.

still don't understand those selling non com domains on secondary market. I am very surprised if anyway will actually buy it.

Out of six listings, in over a month, I've only received one bid on one domain (a whopping $10) . Other than getting only one low bid, although I suspect I'm not getting many views, there's no way to tell how many views/visitors is there?

I see more screwy stuff. The one domain that received a $10 bid does not show it has received a bid when I look at it as a buyer.

I still haven't found a way to remove the postings of the five domains without bids. I found a command called "Withdrawal," which I thought might be a way to remove listings. However, when I click it, I get this message:

"Your Account Setup is 24% complete
To use certain features of Freemarket.com, you are required to complete your profile. Please complete the following actions:
Update your account details."

I really don't want to update my account details. If they weren't complete enough, why let me post domains for sale?

I've also received a few admin notices that my listings have expired, but can be relisted.

Overall, it's sort of confusing.

I think it's their way of trying to charge you to remove your listings as someone formally posted, therefore in order for your profile to be complete, you will probably have to verify payment...Pffttt..
Sorry...I wish you the best of luck with this!

Hey ramkumaritrvs + vivaldi, I work for Freemarket.com. Have you contacted our support? They should be able to help you manually verify your listing. You can also send me a PM and I can take care of it for you. Cheers.

It was no contact details on the site when I listed them (site was a few days old by that time)
So now I just submitted a ticket to the support, hopefully you can sort that out soon...

this will be interesting to see how it pans out. Gotta remember probably wont be a ton of buyers in a new site right away. things take time to grow and spread the word.

How is a listing removed? What's the truth about having to pay to have a listing removed?

Thanks vivaldi, I'll go chase it down and make sure it gets resolved asap.

This is completely untrue. You can do it yourself after your live auction ends (from the listing page, select Remove Listing) or by contacting our support team (this site doesn't allow me to list the URL, but there is a support link in a banner on the site).

Were very happy with how fast the site is growing. In the past few months we've released several major updates such as listing attachments and payment verification and are now home to 6000+ listings. We've expanded our support team, our engineering team and have started to leverage internal and external measures to grow our userbase. I'm really excited for the future of the site so come check us out - we're still completely free to list on and have a extremely low commission rate (5%).

Okay, I tried to manually remove a listing. Here's what happened:

I logged in and went to my listings page. (My "notifications" said my listings were closed.) There was no "Remove Listing" to select. There was a "menu" command in the top right corner. I clicked it and got a black sidebar with these commands: "Edit Settings" and "Logout." Below that were
"Start Selling"
"My listings"
"Transaction"
"Withdrawal"

There was no "Remove Listing" command.

I tried the "Withdrawal" but got a message saying I wasn't finished filling in account setup details. (If that's the case, why did FM let me list my domains? Had I seen all of the info you wanted in the first place, I don't think I would have listed a domain or registered . . . but maybe that explains why it's not required to list a domain.)

Anyway, I was unsuccessful at removing a closed domain. I guess I'll have to call support.

I recently listed SinglesDayShop.com on this site and it was a nightmare verification process (delayed , has feature issues, domainers can have multiple emails it does not agree with that and more), finally it has been listed, I did not even log back in to check, they are still using the Freelancer.com web pages and links + backoffice team and they keep saying they will pass it to that team to resolve...which takes at least 48 hours to turn around each query.

Hey Verbster,

Sorry I was not more clear. The Remove Listing option is available by navigating to your listings view page, the page everyone sees when looking at your auction. Click on My Listings, then click on the "View" button next to the listing. The option is on the right hand side of the page. If you don't get your problem resolved feel free to contact me here via PM.

Hey Super Software, we had a few problems with external verification methods so you may have had issues because of that. They have been resolved now. I apologize if you experienced a delay in getting to our support, tickets sometimes get misdirected however it should have found its way to our support. If you have not gotten this resolved yet, feel free to send me a PM and I will handle it personally. Thanks.

Stefan, you are trying hard here and that is appreciated, however BAD publicity can kill a business (with little or no differentiation) in a crowded marketplace in a matter of days...so suggest you fix your site (remove all broken links and not customized reuse of Freelancer resources on both web pages and operational back end), bake your services, fix your process in Beta with select listings by invite only - create a BUZZ then launch...possibly too late, however maybe it is better to close new registrations until you fine tune all of this, It was such a bad experience that at least I will not be coming back...even Flippa's pivot beyond websites is really not working....with so much poor quality names listed, I think the key challenge for domain marketplaces now is how to filter, showcase quality names and how to make search extremely efficient (call it mining for gold). Feel free to PM me if you need more insights....

Hey Super Software,

Thanks for the feedback, I'll definitely PM you for more info. I agree totally on the ability to find the good listings. We have been showcasing some good domains these past few weeks, so I'd encourage you to check those out.
