Hi there,

I have a few wordpress blogs in a shared hosting I've hired. Now I've seen several people who just redirect their domain to the wordpress hosting service.

What the difference? I've added google adsence in my sites, but I think they can do it as-well. I'm wondering if I shouldn't pay for my host and use the free one.

I'd appreciate your opinion

Best wishes

Sorry the post sounds confusing, what exactly you want to know?

I guess SerPa is asking the difference of paid and free hosting of wordpress.Unfortunately advertising in free wordpress hosting is not allowed. You really need to move in other blogging platforms like blogger if you want to keep things free despite the existence of Adsense.

Actually, there is advertising allowed on wordpress hosted blogs.
Word ad groups.

But not all can join.

Again, if you want FULL control over your blog?
Do NOT use any free blog service or free host!

That's exactly what I was asking. Thanks Zidane!

Ok then I guess it's worthy to keep paying for my hosting, besides it's just 30€ per years.

Thanks so much for your comments

Who do you currently host with if you don't mind me asking?

Wordpress own hosting may be high cost than others!

Is the charge made according to actual usage or are you expected to pre-pay for a potential overage? It is better not to go for hosts that expect you to prepay for overages, since it is very hard to forsee when your site will exceed its bandwidth and by how much.

What did you do in the end?

It depends - on the free hosting external ads are allowed, so I'd keep my own hosting account or find cheaper one to migrate accounts.

Cheers.

I can definitely recommend going for a hosted version of WordPress. Not only you will have easier advertizing options, but you have MUCH more control over your website - you can tweak the design, the flexibility and overall functionality of the website. Moreover, by having full access to your files, you can easily setup a good backup solution and not worry if, for example, you decide to transfer your files/databases. Choosing a hosting partner with WP experience can also expand your project and further develop your business ideas :).

Although WordPress can be installed at any modern hosting plan with PHP / MySQL support, if you're looking for the optimized plan there're plenty of good offers especially designed for WordPress installations.

What are the requirements of your project? What's the server location preference? how much disk space and bandwidth do you require? How many visitors do you expect per month? What's your approximate monthly budget?
