Dropping.com is disappointing!

I recently signed up to Dropping.com's service, but it wasn't easy to use and I wanted out.

Emailed them and got a really really brief email asking why. After telling them that i wasn't happy with it, they still got back to me asking why, and they still haven't got back to me yet since our last correspondence.

Don't like how they do business. Easy to get in, but difficult to get out as they do

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Can you list the advantage and disadvantage of the service?

Specifically, what do you mean not easy to use? How long did you try it? The free trial? And you can cancel right from the interface, did you try that?

Can you list the advantage and disadvantage of the service?

Some of it in this thread:

If you're just doing that, no. There are free places or cheaper/decent alternatives like Freshdrop, $20 a month. If you're doing more, than I think it is.

if you're paying a fee to use any drop service, then you're wasting money

there hasn't been one service worthy since overture died

hard digging and research is equal to the cost of the time it will take.

imo...

Wasting your money? Time is money, these things help me save a lot of it. These are just tools to help you do the research, with more metrics than you probably need, with some handy extras. If you're actually doing it the way I used to, going thru the list manually, picking a domain, and then researching, it's very archaic.

I'm curious what's your normal hard digging and research routine.

yep, wasting your money, or making others rich while providing them with your lists of keyword search queries.

these services have db's and they use those db's just like you use gkwt to find most search terms and phrases....that you and their other users...paid them to add to the db.

sure, you and some very experienced folks may save some time, but most put more cash and time in, than they get back in domain sales or ppc rev.

i like roaming thru free lists, name by name, day after day, week after week...it's relaxing, yet stimulating.

"yep, wasting your money, or making others rich while providing them with your lists of keyword search queries."

I don't actually do any queries, I sort using different metrics looking for those good keywords. I have a few that bring them up pretty quickly.

"these services have db's and they use those db's just like you use gkwt to find most search terms and phrases....that you and their other users...paid them to add to the db."

They go a lot deeper. With Dropping.com, I count almost 60 different metrics available, right now I use 14 that I really like.

"i like roaming thru free lists, name by name, day after day, week after week...it's relaxing, yet stimulating."

I used to do that when I first started. First, go thru the pending delete list, took over 2 hours. Picked some possibilities, did more research on them, took even more time. Now takes me about 10 minutes with the tools. That's just pending deletes. I also look at GD auctions, Namejet, Snapnames. Doing that manually, even more time.

"sure, you and some very experienced folks may save some time, but most put more cash and time in, than they get back in domain sales or ppc rev."

The way I justified the expense when I first started was two fold. First time. Saves me hours per day. Then I asked myself, can using these tools even help me find just 1 good domain in a year. I'm defining good domain as one I can sell for at least a few thousand. The answer for me is yes, so paying $1200 a year, is worth it to me. Pays for itself many times over. And with Freshdrop, it's only $20 a month. That's a great deal for a decent tool. And there some free services out there. I've tried them, just like the paid ones better.

So for me it's not wasting money. It's helping me make money, many times over what I'm paying for the tools, plus saving me boatloads of time, that I use to develop some of those domains, which makes even more money. In the end, whatever works and that'll be different for each person.

if it works for you, cool :)

but a few things i'll comment on

1. to "sort" using keywords, equals a query

2. if you are willing to pay $1200 a year and they got other users paying $1200 a year, then they ain't never got to sell names to make money.
In 5 yrs that's $6k!, shit you can buy a LLL.com or LL.org for that.

3. paying $20 a month = $120 a year, which equals 12 hand regs @ $10 each

4. for me, every dollar spent in the domain game, goes to domains...not to the tool factories

5. since overture is dead....only metric that really counts is gut feeling, if i don't feel it, i don't go after it.

6. lastly,my post is not meant to offend any tool site owner.
just expressing my personal opinion here.

cuz, if you're free, you're cool with me,
and if you charge a fee, you still cool with me....
but one thing for sure, you won't get no money from me.

:)

well, still no answer back from Dropping.com, and I didn't use the 7-day free trial, just hoped that it would be a good service to use so didn't even opt for that.

gutted now, and disappointed about what dropping.com is doing to their customers.

in my opinion, if you're not happy with the service on the first day, then you have the right to have your money back with no questions asked.

that's just wishful thinking when it comes to dealing with dropping.com.

wouldn't recommend that to anyone

Can anyone tell me how i can get my money back please?

Are you sure they got your mail, or that you got their reply ? Your correspondence might be spamtrapped.

This is on you.

"Try any of our plans free for 7 days!"

You could have used the $150 service or the other ones FREE for a whole week. But you didn't, you decided to pay for the service and only give it a shot for 1 day, which isn't enough time. You decided to pay for the service, well, now you have it for the next month. There is a good chance you'll still get your money back and that would be nice if they did, but if they didn't, it wouldn't change my opinion of the service.

I asked you earlier what you didn't like or had problems with, you skipped that question. Some people, like myself, who use it, might be able to help you out. You said you weren't happy with it, what part specifically?

the filter doesn't work well for me, it doesn't do the work that i want it to do

that's not even the point really

in my opinion, if i don't like the service, I can get my money back, isn't that what it's supposed to happen?

I was too lazy to enter the code, maybe that's my fault.

but after receiving my complaint, they were not even bothering answering me after a couple of correspondence

if that's the way they do business, then i just have to go around and stop people from getting nasty surprises from this unfriendly company

late update: I got my money back, but no one told me

people from dropping.com never cared about this kinda publicity it seems

Sorry to hear you had such a bad experience with them. I've heard of another person having a tough time dealing with them as well, although the situation was slightly different.

I'll be the first to say they do have some cool and useful tools in there. However, most people wouldn't even know what to do with some of the tools (and they probably never will need to know how to use them) and I believe their prices are pretty steep for what you get..

I guess you must have decided to remove your initial posts. However, I did read both your original and your revised version. Do you think I'm trying to advertise or something because I said that I know someone else who had a bad experience with them? If so, you're incorrect. The person I know still uses them to this day, although the lady he spoke to before wasn't very easy to deal with. He still prefers the Estibot service over Dropping and happily pays for it..

I assume you are talking about wanting to look at pending deletes further back than 48hrs? If that's the case, I personally wouldn't bother going back further than 5 days because technically the domains are still restorable.

This is my personal opinion on the tools that I personally find useful and non-useful in the website..
Pros:
The Daily Summary
One Click Backorders
Archived Zone Files
Industry Reports
Auction Results
that's pretty much it..definitely NOT worth $99 or 149/mo to me

Cons:
Lead Generator..You can already get this on Estibot..CHEAPER!
API..Can't think of a single website that uses the Dropping API
Live Drop Watch..It moves so quickly your browser will struggle to keep up. Besides, who cares to watch the live drop? I want to catch during the live drop!

So, as I stated in my original post, I believe their prices are pretty steep for what you get. You can say that you like paying for the service all day long and if it works for you - that's great. Maybe you use some of the features in there that I don't. For me personally, I find that most of those search tools can be found elsewhere either free or significantly cheaper. IMO

Why not use Namejet for drop services?

Guys, there is someone here who has a trouble with the Godaddy Links, I still using their platfrom (Dropping.com) as a guest so I was trying to Bid on a domain name which is listed at Godaddy, so when I type "Bid" Bouton, I've got an error (404 Status Code) From Godaddy that the page doesn't exist. I contacted recently Godaddy and they told me that the Redirection Format is old. Any suggestions please?
