The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
I have sold 4 so far, they are selective in their choices and will only pick names that suit their clientele,

Did you just pay listing fees or also opted for homepage/category listings?
How long it took to sell your domains?
They accepted two of my domains so your answers would certainly help.

thanks

Four domains out of how many you've paid to list? Of these four, did any have additional promotion upgrades (e.g. featured listing)?

I have just submitted 3 names.
Will keep you posted if they will be accepted.

The first one I submitted over 1 month ago was refused after 3 weeks. I hope I will get a quicker reaction now.

I recently decided to give them a go.... submitted a list of 6 4-letter and 1 5-letter coms. All of them had something "special"branding wise, but on top of that most were aged, registered in numerous extensions and had daily type-ins. I heard back 8 days later, which was nice. But, surprisingly they only wanted to accept 1.... and it was actually one that I would have considered more towards the middle best for branding. That would have still been fine, but I did not realize that we are LOCKED into their suggested price, adjustable up or down by ONLY up to 20%... they suggested a price of $5K for this domain, meaning my max asking price could be around $7K..... which seemed odd given that, browsing their inventory, I saw SEVERAL other domains that were longer, and imho, less brandable than the one they accepted (and even the ones they rejected), being listed for SEVERAL TIMES the asking price they suggested for mine. So, I respectfully declined and will not be listing it there.

Don't get me wrong, I believe they have a GREAT thing going, and sure seem to be turning sales, but being locked into their pricing was a turn off. I can understand them not wanting a lot of domains with outrageous asking prices that will, most likely, never sell, and wanting to get pricing to a point where, even with their 30% added on, it has a better chance of selling.... but I think there has to be another way of finding a solution regarding pricing options/max pricing etc.

I also struggle with the whole "logo" as well.... many of them seem to be only a mildly interesting font, no real pizazz, and although I can imagine that largely depends on what you are willing to have tacked onto your asking price to cover the logo, I also think that, UNLESS it was included to have logo colors changed etc at buyers request as part of the price, the chances that an enduser is going to want to brand exactly on THAT color selection and logo style seems unlikely. But, maybe they do... and are just happy to not have to think about about the colors for their website and just build around the logo that is included. Dunno.

Anywho, good luck with them if you choose to list there and get accepted!

ADDED: Also, another concern I have is that there doesn't seem to be any room for "negotiation"..... the price is firm and the only "budge room" I can discern is that if THEY are contacting people for a sale they can "choose" to use their 30% as wiggle room... but, for the average viewer browsing the site they see fixed prices and can not make an inquiry/offer....

I have 50+ listings with brandbucket. It's an awesome venues. I sell 20% of listed domain/year of listing. They are extraordinarily picky and they don't get easier with a great sales record. It's well worth the $10. Early on I would pick a greater than $100 logo designs and honestly didn't seem to make a difference.

I have to buy 6 domains to get 1 listed. I actually just launched my own site
To be honest everybody with these sites is really picky. It'd be great if I could find someone who had a bunch of inventory and just combine sites who I'd take a 1/3rd or so at least and just put the rest down to taste. The plethora of sites is getting ridiculous.

I finally found a good logo person off odesk who's doing 2 an hour at 3$ an hour. I just figure the logo is a cost of doing business and don't play it up like it's adding huge value.

I get occasional sales off afternic and sedo but nothing compared to BB. Got the first sales of np last month.

Thanks for your in depth details guys. I've been thinking of picking up more brandables as I haven't had much luck with keyword domains lately. Have 3 at BB and 3 at Namerific so far.

That level of skill in any other business would have wrapped up your life nicely for good. I take a bow to that.

I just had a reply and they refused my domain names I submitted on Friday:

I submitted another 3 on Saturday.

---------- Post added at 07:31 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:21 PM ----------

2 of the 3 domains i submitted on Saturday are accepted. So from the 6 domains i submitted 2 are accepted.

This is the first time domains are accepted on BB

Submitted 10 names last night and received a reply this morning after only a few hours that one had been accepted (as i knew it would) but wasn't sure about the others. Quite a quick response considering the negative feedback on acceptance times. My only concern is that I thought the selling price could have been a tad more.

i'd like to see some of these names that posters say were sold on bb, and for how much if possible

I submitted 10 on Friday and 3 accepted today, two mid $x,xxx and one $xx,xxx. That's way more than what I had priced them at, so I am quietly hopeful :)

I was surprised that they weren't interested in globin.com and octiv.com, I would have thought they were better sounding than most of those they are selling.

You can't go by the names on the site. 2/3rd or so of the inventory is inhouse and gets the benefit of the doubt. These sites don't exist to make money listing domains, they exist to sell the house inventory. The commission from moving outside inventory is a side benefit.

Or perhaps the in house inventory is to flesh out the site, bulk up the listings, and make the outside domains look good?

30% is a big commission...

That sounds to me as you are as aged as your domains for not having the will to read back on some of the previous posts (only kidding) :)

Just go back on mazkel's posts and you will see them all.

PS- all guys here are pros and will not waste their time playing kids' games of "my doamin is bigger than yours"!!

I just had a reply and they refused my domain names I submitted on Friday:

These are the names in .com

• accato
• densio
• pinati

Any advise what to do with these names? Maybe Godaddy or Sedo.

Try namerific, see if you have better luck there - ( let us know plz) -- others should do the same - if they get rejected, then try again 2 months before expiry, if they get rejected again, then let them expire.

I don't think you can resubmit your domains ...

BTW you can take a look at some of the sold names by browsing the last 10 pages of the names list at BrandBucket ...
