I just signed up with Pheenix.com, a new drop catching service by the owners for FreshDrop, and would like to know your experience with them. Has anyone won a domain with them? Any issues in getting the domains put in your name/in your account?

HI Guys,

The price for .com and .net is $18.95/domain. For .tv and .cc it is $58.95/domain.

I'll be able to give each of you a free backorder credit for $18.95 if you would like to post a review about your experience with Pheenix.
This offer expires May 5th and limited only to the first 20 people that creates an account at Pheenix and then emails support with their namepros name.
You'll need to post 'Review in Progress' with your handle in this thread as well.

Let me know if that works.

REVIEW IN PROGRESS...I signed up with Pheenix on Saturday and submitted five domain names for backordering on Sunday. I was very surprised and pleased because out of the five domains I submitted, they caught three of them! I was surprised because I really wasn't expecting them to catch a name, considering the price of the service (GoDaddy.com costs $21 for their backorder service, and they can't even catch a cold!). Service emails are handled promptly, and the best part is there are no dreaded AUCTIONS...it is first come, first served! If I am the first person to submit a backorder for cat.com, for example, then I become the only person to backorder it---no multiple backorders allowed! I hope they will keep it this way!

My only concern involved managing the domains after they are caught. As it is now, you have to contact support if you sell the name and want to push it to the new owner. Since they are the drop catcher and registrar, they will have to work on this, but I was assured that more features will be added soon. All and all, this is a very good service!

Are the backorders shown or secret. If they show the backorders, you can just go backorder it with somebody else.

Stub,

The list of backorders is not disclosed and kept private.

PHEENIX REVIEW:

Backordered the following 4 domains with Pheenix yesterday:
Dentist/Columbia(dot)com
Email/Big/Files(dot)com
Locksmiths/Bournemouth(dot)com
Movers/Baltimore(dot)net

The bolded ones ended up being caught by them.

The interface is extremely easy to use. Their support answered my questions wholly and in a short period of time.

REVIEW IN PROGROSS

0/7 so far. I only really go for premiums. If Pheenix catch 1 out of 100 for me I will be very happy. I plan on continuing to use them.

Thanks.

Awesome service. I backordered 3 domains and all 3 were grabbed. Next I'll try to backorder a few domains that have few bids on Namejet.

Not fair how? I have had some luck with low priority backorders at GoDaddy in the past and figured Pheenix is probably on par in terms of speed/reliability.

Results are looking great. Will report back in a few days with the final totals.

Of today's 28 backorders, 26 were caught by me through Pheenix, two were caught by someone else through Moniker. I believe I was past the backorder deadline for GoDaddy, so I don't think GoDaddy even tried to catch them.

There's a few more left in my backorder queue for the next few days. Will update with the results of GoDaddy vs Pheenix.

Not fair for Godaddy.

My first pheenix dropcatch attempt missed out. The domain was caught by a registrar called THREADBOT.COM, INC

we'll try again :)

Not fair for Godaddy.
Why? They own at least a handful of registrars, maybe a dozen of them. I don't think Pheenix has that many registry connections. GoDaddy should be quicker than it is.

That's a BackorderZone registrar/partner.

I asked the owner about this too. It's on their immediate roadmap, but they wanted to get their backorder service up and running ASAP. You'll need to wait ~60 days to transfer out anyway, so they still have some time to roll out this feature.

In the meantime, I've been told you can email them to ask for your auth codes.

Hi All,

I wanted to let everyone know about PUSH and REGISTRAR TRANSFER OUTs.

If you have sold a domain name caught by us you are able to PUSH and to TRANSFER OUT.

PUSH
1. To PUSH a domain name, ask the BUYER to create an account at Pheenix.com. Make sure that they enter in their Owner/Whois Contact information or the PUSH cannot happen.
2. Once the account is created, email support and they with the BUYER's bidding alias and the domain name you wish to PUSH.
3. Support will then PUSH the domain and will reply back to you.
4. We are working on a PUSH feature that will be on the site within a couple weeks.

TRANSFER OUT
1. Because of ICANN regulations, you must wait 60 days before you can transfer out a domain name.
2. Once the 60 days are done, and you wish to TRANSFER out the domain, just email support.
3. We will reply back with the AuthCodes necessary for you to transfer out.

Thanks for all your support and we are very glad that we are catching domains for all of you.

Review In Progress.

I just place a backorder for 1 domain at Pheenix and BackorderZone. there are no bids on NameJet/SnapNames. The domain drops on the 6th May. So won't know the outcome until then.

Added: Added GoDaddy to the list of backorderers. So let's see who gets it.

Update: Pheenix captured my backorder over GoDaddy & BackorderZone. This is a very good start.

I will give it a shot. There is a demand for a lower priced backorder system.

The other options are more expensive (Snap, NJ, etc.) or they are terrible at catching names (GoDaddy).
